Useless (Set Vehicle as favorite)

Whats the point of, when choosing a "vehicle", have an option "Favorite", "Set a vehicle as favorite" and "Show only favorites" ???. What I see is a list moving up or down, nothing else.
It woul be usefull I one could choose wich vehicle to load and really save prefered. How it is now, is pointless and of no utility or use, I think...

Regards

If you have only a few set as "favorites" then the filter makes sense. I only have three such set at present.

However the usefulness of the 'filter' is ruined because it isn't "sticky," and has to be set again every stinking time you open the menu! :toilet_claw:

This sounds like a perfect item to be part of a future version update, eh? NC

Add this into the Suggestions room at Prepar3D.

You never know. It might even make V2.1.

Did just that and there plenty of comments about this.

And about start menus and other.

FSX is so muuuuuch better in this matter.
Do not understand why thy choose not to have a decent menu...perhaps because this is only for training ,and had to be made difficult? :love-struck:

They have stated that the UI was not a high priority for their development efforts simply because the majority of their customers develop their own custom "launchers" depending on their specific needs. :bi_polo:

If so it is plain stupidity to assume that the vast majority of their customers have the expertise and knowledge to do that. This is an unfinished product.

Is any software ever "finished?" The same thing could be said for FSX just as easily. The difference being of course that Pepar3D is an evolving product. That the programmers at L-M are interacting with developers (and in some cases with individual non-developer customers) can only be seen as a very positive thing, as far as I can see.

You are still thinking about their target market customers as though they were individuals. They are for the most part professional IT teams who's mandate is to take the software, combine it with their hardware, and then code their own unique turnkey solutions for their training tasks.

Redbird is one prime example of a 'civilian' team using Prepar3D as the basis for their professional flight training systems:

Lets remember, P3D was once ESP. ESP was by Microsoft and was a stripped down version of FSX. ESP was going to become non-existent, cancelled, and Lockheed Martin purchased ESP from MS. What you see now are the remnants of ESP. P3D has been evolving, now most of its code redone, and yes, they now have a new menu screen, but its not like FSX. FSX remember is for entertainment. P3D is hard core. Its not frilly, its functional. Its fast and smooth, boots up fast, has HDR and superb interior shadows, and a lot of other new features that FSX doesn't have.

One of the fall backs of FSX when it came out was that menu screen. It ate up so much memory that it took forever to bootup. It booted up the last flight you had, or the default (got all the scenery loaded, plane, etc) as well as activating all the aircraft files (panel and aircraft configs) which if you had 100+ planes, that was a huge amount of RAM resources as well. The list goes one. Some work arounds got some of that trimmed down, but it was still a resource monster, though it was pretty to look at.

We have a menu screen now for those that wanted one. Be happy. ;) It will evolve, Im sure. This did.
