USS North Carolina

Hey Guys & Gals

Two times I have started this project and both times lost it due to PC problems. This time I am making sure there are backups, backups and more backups. This ship is said to be haunted and cursed (Post war) so maybe that's why I've had so many mishaps. Anyway, I've started it again and put aside everything else until it's sailing again. I live about 3 miles from where it is now anchored as a memorial, Wilmington North Carolina, and I visit it a few times a year.
Here's how shes looking so far, got a lot more to do.

Chris

Chris, that looks great! I would say definitely equal to the Usio-no-Ibuki ships in CFS2. Keep up the good work, hopefully you will get it finished with no more glitches. :salute:

Thanks fellas. I have always loved this ship and her gallant history, this is a labor of love.

Her sistership Washington probably had about the finest combat gunnery record of any battleship, ever! Wills Lee was an early master of radar gunnery, to devistating effect.

Glad at least the NC is still afloat!

Any chance of a scenery object version that can be placed in various locations?

Been thinking about that. I kinda sorta want to make a scenery version and place it where it is now in Wilmington, complete with visitor center. We'll see how it goes.

I've toured that boat - really impressive! I'd love to get down there again, but this late in the year it just wouldn't be the same without a Britt's Donut! :crybaby:

I toured her as a kid when my Dad was stationed at Camp Lejune. Must have been about 1966 or so. I remember people dropping food off the bow to an alligator in the water below.

[h=1]"Charlene" and "Charlie"[/h]Not seen them in many years though.

Working on guns now and there's a bunch of them.

It amazes me how little time it took them to build these ships as much as there is in one. There is a bunch of parts n pieces in them :).

Looks awesome Chris. I've always been a fan of your work... I've been to see the North Carolina twice, and I learn more about her history each time. It will be an honor to see her sail when you are done.. :applause::medals::icon29::guinness:

When I was stationed at Fort Bragg in NC, my wife and I visited her a couple of times. She certainly is a grand old lady and a great site to visit if your are in the Wilmington area.

Kingfishers built and loaded

Thanks Quicksand

Shes closer guys. I put together the kingfisher today. Tried to make them as real as I could without to many polys, I think they will work, I hope anyway.:salute:
