V2 finally on the horizon for me.

I have been holding off buying P3DV2 until I had upgraded my graphics card. Well this morning my bank balance reached a point where I found I could do the upgrade. I have ordered a
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 OC Edition 4GB card. The reason I ordered this card was that it was the only one on the site that specifically stated it was DX11.1 compatable. Just under $AU400.

Should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Well Done Pat. That's what I'm saving my pennies up for now. It's the weak link in my system right now (GTX650Ti/2 gig.). What you're getting should really get you running very well.

That is exactly what I am hoping for Ed. $400 for an aged pensioner is a lot of money and a lot of saving :).

Yep, I hear ya Pat. . .and right after Christmas doesn't help here either, lol. I have things running pretty smoothly with what I have, I just know it could be much better with the 4gig card.

Actually downloading P3DV2 now. Only getting about 450-500KB/s download speed so about 3 hours to go. That speed is much faster than 6 months ago when instead of about a 6 hour download it would take me 3 days at about 80KB/s.

Ouch Pat!! Seems like mine was also pretty lengthy.

Man... That's a good price too! I want one... 4 Gigs! Can you imagine how powerful that will be?

Yeah Bill, waited a long time for a decent graphics card. Hopefully on Tuesday of Wednesday I can show some results for you.

Good for you Aussieman! Hope you enjoy V2.

I am enjoying V2 with caution even with my lame 460GTX. Unfortunately my mobo can not handle a bigger one so I need a more drastic upgrate.

I will probably buy V2 when the first rev comes out. When I got my new pc back in September, I asked for the factory overclocked GTX770 with 2 gig ram and I'm wondering if I need to go to a 4 gig card. Also can 4 gig be used with a 32 bit program like FsX?

Cheers,

Roger.

Roger, the video RAM on the card has nothing to do with whether the program running is 32bit or 64bit. P3Dv2 will use every bit of byte you can give it!

Last month I replaced my "ancient" GTX560 1GB card with a shiny new EVGA GTX770 SC 4GB card. I regularly see around 3.6GB being used when P3Dv2 is running.

For that matter, FSX will even fill the VRAM as high as 1.8GB in highly detailed areas. :encouragement:

:encouragement: Fantastic Purchase.....Can't wait to see some screenshots from you:encouragement:

I now have P3DV2 installed but the graphics card is not DX11 compatible so I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to install my new card. In the meantime I will be installing some aircraft and scenery in readiness for the big event :)

Pat, just a HU. . .and this is just what I have encountered and may not hold true for everyone: Aircraft that are not Native FSX, seem to lose VC clickability. Thus far, ever airplane I've tried that isn't native FSX has reacted the same way. They look great, fly great, effects work fine, but nothing in the VC is usable. Just food for thought as you start adding your favorites.
