V3.4 Helicopter problem

Hi,

Just installed 3.4.14 and I'm experiencing a problem with all my helicopters. When adding power the engine dies and the rotors comes to a stand still, then it comes slowly alive again and the cycle repeat itself again. The same happens when I start from a default flight. Any advice?

It's one of the engine commands which is set to minimum. Probably the RPMs.
Try CTRL+F4 to set it to max.
A little bit of CTRL+SHIFT+F4 (to set the "mixture" to max) might be usefull as well.

Jens, one problem that I've encountered with P3D is some aircraft, but mainly helicopters are effected if you have twin throttles set in your control axis (I know this effects the Razbam Harrier). I have a setting in FSUIPC set for helicopters.

Hope this helps,
Ian

Thanks for the advices, I have tried the CTRL command numerous times, but no luck. The only cure seems to be to crash the helicopter into the sea several times and then suddenly the engines comes to life...

I do have an axis on a wheel on the throttle for prop pitch for use with Harriers using Robs coding. Could it be this? (It does not matter if the prop pitch is changed)

It could be a problem with the axis, yes.
Either this, or your helicopter has several engines and you started only one of them...
How are the engine gauges in your aircraft ? I mean, the engine(s) RPMs and the rotor speed should be clearly visible somewhere, right ?

Flying the AS Sea Hawk I get a Low rpm warning on both left and right engine, NP1 and NP2 rise a little before diving down into the read (it cycle when I add power). The same happens with other helicopter models.

It might seem a bit of a daft question Jens, but have you tried clicking the throttle with your mouse to make sure it's fully open?

I know with my setup, especially using helicopters, I need to press Ctrl+F4 and Ctrl+Shift+F4 before I takeoff. I do this now as a matter of habit to ensure that mixture and RPM are both set at 100%. For some reason the axis I use on my throttle doesn't set 100% if it is all the way forward, probably just needs calibrating. I know Daube suggested this at the start, and your symptoms sound the same as if i don't have RPM set to 100%. If RPM are just below 100% (probably around 95% which is where my axis control sets it to in it's max position) then as soon as I add throttle (collective) the engine seems to die under load and the Low RPM warning will come on.

Cheers,

On some helicopters, you have to set your throttle (collective) to a small percentage (like 10 or 20%) and wait for the rotor RPM to raise.
But I don't think it's valid for all helos...
Anyways, if your engine RPM is low, then you have to find the command to raise them to the normal speed. And it used to be CTRL+F4... So I don't know what's going on on your system... :(
