Has anyone used (or seen the use off ) varabase ,interpolate or transformatt in ordinay scenery.
I'm into animations powered by timer genarating .bgls /trick scenery .The opcode guides do'nt
tell you much.
I like using unusual or the newish commands just for the challenge.

I've got to boldly go now....bye!

sorry, i don't know about the terminology,
but, years ago, i did play with Martin's timed flak.
as i recall, i was trying to create a decent flak layer.

as with most of my projects,
i got side tracked and didn't finish.
maybe, someday.....
story of my life, really.

lLATEST.....

just to let you know that I have managed to get varabase (and Moveword,Low642var,var2 low64)
working. I sent the 'running beacon counter' var 282 to my local variables then sent it to uservar312.
I have ways ofl ooking at many of the variables (as they are actually working ).
Now you would probably say 'big deal'..... I think these opcodes seem to work best in delta X,Y andZ
defined space.....ie the way you would define a 'crash 3D area.
I do'nt think transform_mat is available in CFS1.
I think the flak thing(reply from smilo) was londonflak by S. McClelland and I'll have to checkout 'FS Rail'
as suggested by Dave. By the way check out Martin Wright's Asche scenery on his website--fantastic!
Anyone interested let me know.
today's wisdom....There is a lot to be said for saying nothing.

You are talking way above my head, But it you can show me how to create movement in CFS I am all in.

Dave

as i said, it was a long time ago.
it was my brief attempt at scenery building.
as i recall, i might have been using
martin's cfsactive apis for the flak project.
it also has vehicles, planes, etc.
looking in my archives, i see, cfsact3
which has api movement up to an hour.

speaking of flak, there's a nifty scenery, Guines,
by DDave with active flak. very cool.

all in all, i'd say this topic best suits hubba's expertise.
he has done some interesting work with active scenery.
the radio activated hangar doors at Ripe comes to mind.

as for the wisdom of the day,
mum's the word seems to be
the standard for the cfs crowd.

Hi papingo:wavey:

I do use old variables in my macros quite often but, for now, everything is on a hard drive well asleep.

Many objects I made are using such variables. For example, the rotating earth globe at the memorial is using timer variables, not the beacon type. I suppose it could be applied to a large variety of moving scenery objects.

Martin Wright was, and probably still is, the master of animation in CFS1. Try to get in touch with him.

As for myself, I have a large crash box in my secret lair (not at the north pole...:adoration:) where I test variables from time to time. Most are no-show, but sometimes interesting things do happen. Ask smilo about my V1 launching ramps...

I also used radio-related variables for "radio-controlled" interactive objects and lights.

If I could find a speed-related variables, catapults and arresting cables would come shortly on some flat-tops for sure!

Have fun...
