Goodness. I have been reloading my hard drive all week. One of the fastest things to go 'right' was loading up my same installation of FS9 which was on an external HD and stays there. It copied over with no issues, runs smoothly.
FSX however... heh..
Earlier this week, I found I needed to reload all of FSX. I could copy my files over after this, but could not duplicate the installation, no matter what I tried. Ok.. So I did that. I left my original FSX on the external drive, so there are now 2 FSX installations. (All games and sims are on a separate drive, external, one drive, drive F. None are on C: drive).
Today, I find I havent installed the SP1 update. So... I install it. Nada. Nothing happens. I figure its loading into the secondary older FSX, so I delete that after uploading a copy to my backup HD. Done. Rerun the SP1 update. NADA.... ok... I need to reload all of FSX. I bite my lip and start on it rather then complain. That was at noon today. I accidentally almost installed it onto C: drive, stopped it, and redirected it to F drive, however, I missed the drive letter and installed it to E drive, lol... (dual named FSX folders) and I accidentally fully loaded FSX onto the aux backup HD. No problem. I uninstall, and start reinstalling again to F drive. Done at 6PM this evening. I start up FSX and find it still needs to have the FSX SP1 update installed. I grin. 'silly me' I say to myself. Thats what all this was about to begin with. I start again, installing the SP1 update for FSX. I reboot FSX, NADA..... lol.. I 'half-grin' now. I reboot, try again, Nada. I run the SP1 update again, Nada. I run the Flight1 registry cleaner for FSX, run the SP1 update again. NAHH DAHHH!!!
All I want to say is 'thank you Lord for FS9.' What a wonderful sim the Great Lord has blessed us with. I am so thankful for it. It runs so awesome, fast, crisp. I am greatful....
I dont know what to do about FSX. This is not good. But for now, its night time, 6:30PM. I have been at it all day, just to get SP1 running.
Crazy.....
