Vertigo Studios P-36 Spotted!

Nice! Looking forward to the P-36, count me in for a "Free Norwegian" forces in Canada repaint. They were flying them out of Toronto airport (called "Little Norway" in the lead in fighter training role.

P-36! Excellent! I love the older, slightly obscure, warplanes of the early part of the war.

Sweet!!!:jump:

Be great to go back and rebuild Nichols Field in 1941 config!!:applause:

We're currently gathering information and photos of any forward-operating bases that we can create for the Hawk deep in France. My intention is to recreate it with AI Hawks and also static aircraft, tents and so on. If anyone has anything that will help me, it would be most appreciated.

We intend to realse 6 additional liveries : 2 US, 2 UK and 2 FR

That really good news Dean. Like many I still fly the FDGv2 P-36 isn't a more recent model and although it still looks quite nice after all these years, it is showing its age. When my information is correct the French aircrafts used the 'normal' airfields with permanent buildings in most cases. As they were the defenders and the battle field was were it was expected, they could use the existing infra-structure.

The advancing Germans had no airfields in the region the had captured and therefore had to rely on improvised airstrip. However the started to use the Dutch, Belgium and French airfields as soon as the Battle for France was over.

I hope this sounds a bit logical. I think I should be able to provide you some pictures as I have several books about the l'Armee de l'Air. However in most cases the aircrafts are the topic and not the airfields.....

Cheers,
Huub

Wow no P-36s in action on Dec 7th in the Philippines. Always learning something.

If you do US liveries.. I have suggestions...

The Hawk is the donationware P-36, which can purchased to support the Sim-Outhouse. You can find a buttom in the upper navigation bar on this page. There is a CFS2 and a FS9 version.

The price shouldn't stop you and the included repaints are quite nice. I did a few French textures based on John Terrell's paintkit. These repaints can be found in the library here.

Edit: I just checked but the links towards the P-36 at donationware.net are very dead...

I saw a P-36 at Planes of Fame Chino a few years back get flown by Steve Hinton before they shipped it off. Ill see if I have any pix of it for ya.

Strike out. Darn. I also had some video of it doing its run-up. Nice aircraft. I like it a lot better then the P-40, and so did pilots! I was reading one pilots book that trained in P-36, and stationed in P-40's and he loved the P-36 much better. He said it was much better aircraft then the P-40 in almost every possible way and was quite puzzled why the US chose the P-40.

The model is looking great!

As the link towards the donationware P-36 is dead, I have made some screenies.

The bare metal textures by LOBO are really very special! A olive drab/grey version is included as well. And the last screenie is one of the French repaints I did.

As you can see the external model is still quite nice, however the VC is definitely showing its age, so a new model in FSX will be more than welcome.

Question for Huub

Huub,

First of all, let me compliment you on those screenies!

But my question is the following: are you using any special prop textures there? If so, can you give us a pointer please?

Thanks in advance,
