Very Loud engine sound problem.

This used to happen back in the earlier versions and seems to still be happening. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this?

First of all, I'll admit it, I like to change views from CP to external, especially when site seeing. (I also frequently use the radar and cone helpers-so shoot me :kilroy:)

Anyway, when I change back to the CP view from an external view using F4, the engine sound goes way up in volume and its the blipping engine sound, not the steady engine sound. If I turn my throtle all the way down, wait a half second, and then turn it all the way up again, I get the normal engine sound and the loud one disappears. While flying I hit Esc and adjusted both the engine and CP sound levels and they have no affect on the loud blip engine sound, just on the normal engine and the MG sound, etc.

One good thing, haven't heard that loud tear sound anymore.. glad that's gone! ..what was it?

Hi Rabu,
That was the sound of fabric, not necessarily yours, ripping. Not the seat of your pants, but your, or someone else's, aeroplane.
Cheers,
shredward

The TAC I can see, I've known to leave it up as a watchdog, so nobody can sneak up on me
But the Tagetting Cone ?? . . . That's criminal . !!!!!!!!!

If the F4 gives you sound problems, stay away from it

On your Hat Sw, have South = Cockpit w/ Trackir
North = Float view ...Shift F9 ... That's the closest we have to Chase View in RB3D :sheep:

Hay, Gimp, it's a game! :hand:

Sometimes I play with everything off, other times I turn things on. This sound problem has got me going here though.. when I had P2 set up, over a year ago, I had the TrackIr3 hooked up and the little bit of flying I did I wasn't changing views too much.. actually I was mainly doing testing with external views as I created skins, I wasn't flying much at all as I didn't have time to.

The problem is not just F4, which is the view toggle. I played some more tonight and I was flying a Spad VII and it does the engine blaring increase everytime I change a view.. ie: If I change from CP to Float View or from there to Chase view, or back to CP it does it on each change.

BTW, Gimp, Shft+F9 is Flyby View, Shft+F6 is Float View, but that isn't even close to Chase view.. we have an actual Chase view which is Ctrl+F4

In the Nieuports, it only does the engine increase when I enter the cockpit from an external view, not when I leave the CP to an external view.... really strange. And in the CP of either planes, changing the view from real to full doesn't trigger the sound increase.

In both planes, the loud engine sound sounds like the sound affect for the low speed engine, but it is really loud.

You can change the sound levels in workshop Rabu, but if it's abnormally loud still after lowering it, then sounds like (no pun intended) your sound card drivers or settings- check for updates?

I already tried the sound adjustments, this is not a sound level thing, when it changes it comes on really loud then goes back down to the right level when you decrease the throtle, then turn it back up again.. very strange.

I played around last night and it does it in CFS3 as well, so somthing is messed up. I was asking to see if anyone else has noticed this problem, but with the lack of response I'm going to assume no one else has this problem, or no one reads my posts. :icon_lol:

I wonder if it could be a bad CFS3 disk that affected the install? I'll fool around with it some more when I have time, got to go to work.

Thanks,

K Rabu as I say sounds like its a sound card driver or sound card setting issue.
Check in device manager for clashes, check for another updated driver. Make sure for example the correct speaker config is set in control panel sounds....

ouch Parky that was LOUD ;)

Solved!

Thanks "everyone".. it was the Audigy 2zs drivers.. when I updated them to the newest version the problem disappeared.
