Veteran's Day

erufle, thank you for the wake up call.

I had an invitation from a little girl down the street to go to her elementary school and take part in the activities.

I am not the kind of guy to look for those opportunities. I am uncomfortable going there and having kids and teachers thank me for my service to the country. I am a life member of VFW, but I do not take part in any of their activities either.

I almost got ready and went to that little girl's school, just so she would have someone she invited. I picked up the invitation to see time and address thinking it would be the last event of the school day. I was going to go ahead and go. It was 10:30AM and the event started at 10:00 AM...

Opportunity missed.

The elementary school my son and daughter attended sometimes had a Veteran's Day assembly and they would invite the parents to attend. Being near a military base, many of the parents were service members, myself included, and we would wear our class A uniforms. It was always a touching event, not only to see the assembly and the kid's presentations, but to see the different uniforms from the different services and times.
