VFR Check Points on VTA charts...

I have had the lucky opportunity to run into a local pilot more into this stuff than I am and in an effort to kick up the realism, he has been giving me VFR training via multiplayer. Airport proceedures and the lingo and so on.

I have a VTA (VFR Area Terminal Chart) for my local airports around Calgary Alberta.

Part of what this kind pilot has been guiding me through is the correct proceedures in and out of airspace and the VFR approach to our smaller airport west of Calgary via the VFR checkpoints as plotted on the VTA.

Typically Springbank ATC requires I report in 5nm South of a specific VFR Callup Point. Then from there they provide instructions to the VFR checkpoint and then approach and landing instructions.

In real life these guys add them into their GPS's for future reference and to make it easy to navigate visually to these points.

Those "points" are not in FSX like VOR's and NDB's.

Can I add them somehow? That way they will show on my FSX map and GPS?

There are several moving map displays that can use sectionals or terminal area charts. If you can't find your particular terminal chart online, you could scan yours and get it to display.

I really like having a real chart to look at when flying. I use FSMap and another is Electronic Flight Bag and there are likely some freeware programs out there too, I'd imagine.

Using a VFR Terminal Area chart in FSMap, I can see the VFR reporting points on the chart as I approach them and sometimes they'll show up in FSX on the ground as well.

Those look very interresting. I just realized to that if I want I can add custom waypoints or points of interrest to Plan-G that I run on my laptop next to me. That would work as well. Still would not have these in my GPS in the sim though I suppose.
