This is what my system is:
Intel core Duo E8600 @ 3.33GHz
3.00GB OF RAM.
Video card GTX 470
MOBO- Gigabyte GA-EP45_UD3P
Windows XP 32 bit.
To get this to work before I start CoD I set the PC to the 800x600 then start the game.
IMO to get the full benefit of CoD I will need 64 bit and 4GB of Ram.

I like the cockpit and self shadowing and especially the working gunsight! Very cool.
Tracers look awful, maybe that's a gfx setting?
Looks hard to being a bomber down, which is good.
The landscape - what halucagen were they on??
The sea is just brilliant.
The clouds seem like stock IL2 - poor
So if I were to change my mind and get this what sort of money would it be to buy a rig to do it justice??

Pat the tracers and rounds can be changed in the plane loadout.
I would get 64 bit to run this to see the grass/trees. Thy say thy are fixing this for xp lets hope. If thy do, 32bit will work. A good video card with at lest 1GB memory. From what I understand the 9800GT Nvidia that I had will not run CoD.
32 Bit max's out at 3 gb of Ram so if you can get 64 bit have at least 4 gb of ram. It takes lost of ram. at lest 600 watt power supply.
Pat I would hold off and see what the next patch will do for the xp system before you spend money on this sim.
As far as flying this sim--------- so far I think it shows and plays more like the hard knock life of the pilots at that time. There where not many aces for a reason. If you get CoD thinking its going to be like getting in to your car and driving down to the store and back. It's not. I'm not just saying this to you Pat but to anyone that reads this post.
This is a true to life sim.

I like the water effects, but to taken by the rest..
Our Masters have improved the effects in Our expansions and CFS3 to a better point then IL-2 has in much of this I have seen so far..
But my budget doesn't allow for me to get his, and I doubt my computer would do it any justice as it is anyway..

Owen, other then the water effect Cod douse not have that much to offer.
And I do not see why it is using so much memory. The effect's are not that much and the scenery is not that much. There is something draining the systems and if thy can not fix that thy will lose lots of sells.
CFS3 and the Expansion have much more and do not drain the system like CoD.
I'm sure if I posted this on there site I would get some off the cuff reason from someone talking just to hear there head rattle.lol
I say there in no reason for CoD to be doing this.
Thy are coming out with a fix lets hope it works.
All and All it's not a bad sim. Its just not ETO, PTO, MAW or even FSX.

M$ would have never put CoD out in the state it's in.
I must say there are some good things in CoD it grows on ya. The dog fights are very real and very hard.

My dear frinds of CFS3 I'm happy to say that the Bate patch for CoD worked and looking very good.
Mind you this is not the Expansions ,But it is doing things that cfs3 can't. frost on the wind shield
got my hood cover shot off. The effects are starting to show now and there pretty good.
I have more time this week then I though because the floor contractor for the house is not starting until next Wednesday (Wife Not happy about that) turn out to be just right to be getting in on the start of CoD.
I well post a video or pictures of some of this stuff.
