Video stutter

Eoraptor1

SOH-CM-2022
Recently, my video playback on Windows Media Player and QuickTime has been stuttering and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I run a 2.53 Gig Celeron processor and a 256MB 6200 GeForce video card, with the very latest drivers, and with 2 Gigs of RAM. All my diagnostics say the device is functioning normally and there are no conflicts. Still, I've been removing all the old applications I've acquired over the years that I no longer use, something I've needed to do for a while, which has made the overall OS (Windows XP SP3) run more smoothly. I've read before that Quicktime doesn't get along with Nvidia drivers, but this dosen't explain why WMP has started stammering. Has anyone else had this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

JAMES
