FS2004 1962 Indochina Scenery. This scenery package contains the major airports for Indochina and Burma as they were circa 1962, based upon material and photographs. The following airports are fully detailed: Rangoon, Burma; Mandalay, Burma; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Saigon, South Vietnam; Da Nang, South Vietnam; Hanoi, North Vietnam; and Vientiane, Laos. Pakse and Savannakhet, Laos, are done in minor detail with backdated AFCADs. In addition, included are added parking and backdated AFCADS for many minor airports in the region, thus adding parking locations for AI, and removing the irritating strobes, taxi lines, and other features that did not normally exist during the 1950s and 1960s. FS2004 Scenery--Ubon, Thailand (VTUU). Updated scenery for Ubon Ratchathani airport in Thailand. Ubon was developed during the Vietnam war as an airbase for the USAF. After the war, the Thai Air Force continued to use it as a base, but it also came to be used by commercial airlines to service the northeastern parts of the country. A new, modern terminal has been built and international flights are expected in the future. A landclass and AFCAD2 file are included. By Martin Strong.

I recall a few military bases (Da Nang, maybe U Tapao) rendered as per the the military operations of the time - sorry, I can't recall right now where those were.

I hope those help you get started.

Thanks, The south-east asia mesh is fantastic, as for the other two, I'm looking for the static aircraft to be Huey's and the people to be army personell, as opposed to civillians and classic jetliners,

I'd suggest you go look for a file named 'Apocalypse Now' by Ron Jeffers
(at flightsim.com)
it has all the Hueys' (and more) you could ever wish for, as for the airbases, George Knowles did a load for fs2002 (that also work in fs2004)

Al Simms also did scenery of the Duc Pho area, it gives you another 6 bases.

Between pages 75 to about 78/9 in the simviation fs2004 scenery pages there are over 10+ different vietnam/laos/thailand nam war era US bases, including Khe Sanh and many more:medals:

There are a lot of wonderful scenery of Vietnam as above but in a majority of the scenery out there today for FS9 you will have to D/L all of these scenery add-ons to make it work as the scenery is only partly finished...as for me I avoid that as it is more work, I just try to find scenery that is complete which is few these days.

Cheers

Casey

I've downloaded most of the suggested sceneries from this thread and thus far. . .not impressed. The mesh for instance. . .I saw no difference from what I was already using (FSGenesis, that's probably why). In the case of three of the four or five sceneries I loaded, nothing even shows up (probably not compatible with addon mesh like FSGenesis).

The real factor in making that area believable, above and beyond the Fire Bases and Air Fields is the autogen. Even with decent mesh, if the landscape is still basically void of the type of dense vegetation that marks that part of the world, then it's gonna look like East Texas with some hills.

Kudo's to the guys that took the time to research the bases and build a reasonable facsimile. . .my hat's off to them for sure, but I haven't seen anything thus far (in the area of significant autogen replacement) that makes me stop and say. . ."oh yea, that's how I remember it".

One of the crazy Fs9 thingys is its harder to redesign the LC, unlike FSX with its KML tools and ADE that make user friendly better in redesigning LC. However well soon find out if ADE for FS9 can assit with LC work then maybe we can finally brighten this area back to the SE Asia its supposed to be.

Not even HERE (Chu Lai - VVCA), or HERE (Duc Pho)?
