Better a late mention than none at all. Yesterday (Aug.18) was Vietnam Veterans Day in Australia. The date is the anniversary of one of the biggest battles the Australians fought in. The Battle of Long Tan took place in 1966 near Nui Dat in Phouc Tuy Provience and saw a company of Aussies up against a Regiment of 2500 or so. Eighteen Aussies were killed during the battle in the rubber plantation during that rainy night and come morning some 240 enemy bodies were recovered.
Sincere thanks to all Aussie Viet vets from this old Yank for standing with us during that long conflict. :medals: :australia:

It is indeed a day of remembrance, and to honor my fallen Australian comrades who I had the privilege of serving alongside in '66-'67. A hearty :ernae: to my mates from the 1st Royal Australian Regiment who were attached to our unit. I will never forget you and would soldier with you again, anytime, anywhere! :medals:
