Yo guys!

I was thinkin....

You know how you cycle through three main views in CFS-2... pit... VC... and chase. Well, is there a way to add ANOTHER view for the player to cycle into? Like... put a viewing spot along the side of the plane and make it one of the main views you cycle through?

I've seen something similar to what you are talking about on the Duxford Legends Skyraiders: http://www.btinternet.com/~duxford.legends/ It's called a "Bigglesview" on the aircraft.cfg and is like sitting on the left wing root. I disabled it in favor the standard external/chase view. Whether or not you can keep both or if it works on other planes, I doubt

Yo Dirty!

Good to see ya back at the Outhouse BTW!

I actually already have that. I've got the chase view down, and the track other planes view and stuff... what I'd like to do is make a WHOLE new view... like... a view that looks like a camera is mounted outside the plane or something...

Go for it Bro!!!

Find a way to do it
!

Use some part or function that already exists in CFS2 & find a new way to use it.

It's ideas like this that keeps our sim fresh!!!
:amen:

- I'm always around this place ..... they'd need to pay someone to keep me away!!

The "Biggles" is actually a compromise of your defo VC viewpoint in the aircraft.cfg. You can't have them both, because you have to adjust the lateral or vertical VC viewpoint to an exterior position outside of the cockpit to get the "Biggles". But it sure makes dogfighting a LOT more interesting....

HOW DID YOU DO THAT!!!!??????? :woot::woot::woot:

I don't know the first thing about an aircraft.cfg file!

However, I was lookin' around last night, and I found that there is something called "window.dll" in the modules file. Anyway to decode all the jumble in there? :help:

Too complicated...let's just float downstream instead of paddling hard.

Open the a/c.cfg and look at the Views section:

[Views]
eyepoint = -3.3, 0.042, 5.745

longitude----- lateral-----vertical // in feet

****************************************

Move the lateral or vertical eyepoints by big gains in any direction and you'll end up sitting outside the model in VC mode

Ok... it works... BUT... the plane seems to go a-missing! Like, I'll go outside the plane with my coordinates, and chunks of the plane go bye bye!

Any way to fix? I looked at the texture files... something tells me this shouldn't be happening...

DD...please remember that this is a VC mode thing. Not every model is created with a VC view that includes the whole exterior airplane. Some aircraft have a partial VC exterior that only gives you those portions which should normally be visible from a normal cockpit position, like the nose and wings and maybe the tail assembly. Other parts are omitted to save poly's and work in the mdl design. Just try another model....
