How to add a speedbrake function to a plane that has none?

In the aircraft.cfg of the plane in question, look for the section title : [airplane_geometry]
Under that heading, find the line spoiler_limit = 1 . If it doesn't exist, add it. The higher the number you have, the greater the effectiveness. Like if it's up around 90, the plane will almost stop dead in midair. If it's below 30, depending on the plane, you won't see much effect at all. Normal, like for an Airbus, is 60, or 59.5, something around there. Most of the F-14's and F-18's I've seen are around 60-ish.

NOTE: This will NOT add a visual effect to the model. THAT has to be done by the developer in the .mdl file. All this method will do, is cause the EFFECT of the spoiler, or speed brake, to function on the plane.
Please note, you also need the line spoiler_extension_time=3.0 , or the time you choose. Most spoilers/speed brakes extend pretty quickly.
If you want spoilerons, like the F-14 uses, there are several more lines that are needed, but for just the effect, these two lines are all you need.

Open up the airfile using AirEd. Go to section 1101 Flight Dynamics. Locate Spoiler Drag and Left click on it. When the box opens up add 200 and hit enter and then save the file. That should give your plane a moderate amount of spoiler affect.
