I am getting ready to build a Quad Core system and what I would like to know is would it be beneficial to buy the 64 bit version of Vista or should I stay with the 32 bit version? I will be building this PC for FSX.
Been using a quad core 32 bit system with 4 GB ram and middle of the road Radeon video card with 256Mb on board. It can easily handle anything I've thrown at it so far. In fact I can throw about 4 heavy duty things at it at the same time and it just cranks away. I think you can load up more ram again with 64 bit OS.
I have both 32 and 64 on my system. Both work fine. Not many drivers for the 64 bit and also programs, but both work fine. If you are into game playing ya might wanna stick with 32 bit....Mike
Thank you guys, I am leaning towards Vista 32 just because of some of the problems with the 64bit version and FSX, I am essentially building it for FSX.
Id go with Vista x64. I haven't had no problems with any 32 bit programs or drivers not working in it. FSX runs smooth in either dx9 or dx10 preview on my dual core.
There are plenty of drivers for Vista 64. Hard to believe it's been almost 2 years already for Vista, but I really have had only a handful of problems with programs in that time. Been pretty flawless for me so far.
