At the end of the war Finland was developing a fighter designed around the 109 engine and prop but made of wood. Only one prototype was completed; it climbed faster then the 109 and was highly maneuverable. A very clean, attractive design. Read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VL_Pyorremyrsky

It has the pleasing lines of some of the later Italian Macchi DB engined fighters too. Form follows function I guess.

In profile, it reminds me a bit of the Heinkel 100. Nice form.

And as you can see, handling the thing on the ground would had been more pleasant than Messerschmitts thanks to wider track.
