VLC is released!

Some nice looking shots. Could this possibly be FTX for New Zealand? Definitely worth investigating further.

Not technically, because Orbx are working on their own FTX for NZ.

Thanks for the info Bill. I didn't for a second believe that this was an Orbx product, only that it seems to transform the landscape in a similar way. Excellent news that Orbx are working on their own product. Look forward to it.

VLC NZ looks great! Quick conversion - $65.00 NZ = $48.57 USD.

However, I think I'll wait for Orbx's NZ version. Then compare the two before buying.

You might be waiting a while - ORBX South Island is not due until 2011 and North Island I believe is due in 2012. VLC includes both the South and North Island. With that sort of gap I might end up getting both. It will be interesting to see what ORBX comes up with and what airports they are doing.

From the screenshots and videos I've seen, VLC still displays some of the aspects of default FS scenery that I hate - places where the ground looks smeared and blurred. Having said that, it's still a no-brainer - I want it and will get it, even though I also plan on getting the Orbx FTX versions of both North and South Islands when they're available. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who makes New Zealand scenery which has significant improvements over the default is making something I want ...

thats a good looking strikemaster in one of the screen shoots , wish there was a proper fsx native version of that. the only portover i found had a horrible horrible VC

thanks chaps .. must admit i'm tempted .. might wait to see if the price drops a bit first though :engel016:

don't hold your breath, the red baron mesh cost $100NZD and it was only a mesh. This one has a 20 meter mesh and land class for only $65NZD

Well I just bought it. Can't wait to try it out! One question tho - it says the app replaces some default textures (installer makes a copy of default textures), so presumably you'd need to deactivate this scenery before activating OrbX Australian scenery, and vice-versa. There doesn't seem top be a deactivate function in the configuration app like there is in the OrbX one?

R.

I dont have Orbx Australia but I do have Orbx OPNW and od course VLC. Whilst Orbx PNW dosen't have to be deactivated I am pretty sure Orbx Australia does. Ill double check over at the VLC forum.

You can deactivate VLC textures with the box in the corner of the config screen - just untick this to deactivate VLC.
