No Can Do
Sorry that I can't go. I have been wanting to go camping at 'Hill Top', which is between Mt Charleston and 'Angel's Peak' (where there is still a search radar (visible rubber bubble) used by FAA for ATC into Vegas. Maybe sometime I'll go up there, but will have to stay a couple of days to rest up from trip from Central California. I am 72 and out of shape. I know how hard it is to hike 4 miles up and 4 miles down. Takes all day, too. Being there-done that. I love to go discover water falls, rock formations, old trees, etc. I could live up there if they would let me.
I was stationed at Angel's Peak (height radar for X-15) from 1961 to 1964 while in the Air Force. I worked 16 hr shifts (4pm to 8am) so I had time off every 3 days or so to go hiking around that them there parts. Lots of deer, wild horses, loose sheep, cattle and mountain lions. Saw the tracks in the snow when I doubled back due to cliff (end of trail). Spooky. Also mouted patrols (Sheriff) with hound dogs. You hear them but you can't see them for the trees. And it snows 6 month out of the year up there. We had winds of 100 mph which almost blew the radars off the hill several times. Huge storms. And 12 degree incline on way up there. More steep when off 'main' roads, with curves and steep drops. Watch out for blue ice at night. I imagine there are a lot of parties up there in the wilderness that generate a lot of trash (idiots). Good luck.
