VRS TACPACK now standalone

For those who might be interested in the purchase, my freeware F-35 and F-14D packages are Tacpack enabled.
Both implementations have some bugs - and in both cases the weapon system operation is somewhat simplified (for several reasons including lack of information) - but they are working, along with basic weapon configurators, and should be good enough for most users.
Also, the latest version of the T-45 supports Tacpack-generated AI-Carriers.

Transforming FSX into an almost Combat Flightsim is tempting indeed. But I do think that the price (39.9$) is a bit steep.

But I'm sorely tempted!

For those who don't have time to trawl through all the threads and marketing bumpf, remind what are are the key takeaway features? Assume it is nothing like Lock-On or Falcon but do you actually hit AA targets and then see them burn and crash? Same for those who like mud moving?

Expat you can see for yourself on youtube search for tacpack.

Any Simobject can be lock and shoot. Aiplane will Have a ball of fire and crash into ground. You can spawn tanker or mostly any airplane you have as a Lead on a racetrack pattern or strait away good practice for formation flying. Same with ships or carriers but only one ship at a time per license you can set Tacan ILS and defense Enable. You can add drone to practice and SAM sites with live SA. All that work in SP and MP.

There is a freeware program call FSX@war that will be release with a lot of good features.

Its not entirely perfect but it give you a taste at military in the entire world and thanks to Developpers who participate or will, for once we will have a common weapon systems tanker and carrier for FSX

SO far VRS FA-18E, Dino Airplanes freeware, Iris A-10A and soon M2M F-15E, Aerosoft F-14A

Hope this help a bit.

Yes you do see them crash and burn, although if it is an AI airliner it is kinda gruesome...

One fun aspect is you can spawn target drones at several heights and distances and have them fly evasive manoeuvres. You can then track them with radar and shoot them down using the weapon of your choice, even guns.

You can also shoot targets on the ground and destroy them, although I have not tried it yet. All the above, I have done with the Superbug. I have not tried other TacPack enabled aircraft do far.

If you have the SuperBug from VRS, or the newest version of the A-10 from IRIS, you also get a working MFD targetting, which means you get that TV display showing the target for laser designation or Mavericks.

i bought the Iris A-10 and the VRS Tacpac,i installed the A-10 first and then tacpac....a potload of tacpas "blocks" are now in my aircraft preview/selection area,,as is the A-10....but how do i set it up to have active arms when i start the A-10?....

yes ive looked at the tacpac wiki page...but i dont follow that.....ADD/ADHD is showing its ugly head again.

Thx VRS and Thx Dino! Very good news, I havent SuperBug so for me its a great news for F-35 of Dino and F-14 from Aerosoft.

When Tacpack asks to allow you to run gauges and dlls say yes to all of them. Tacpack must be allowed tp run when FSX starts. From that point on, anything that has Tacpack integrated should find it and use it. I have set up my Tacpack to ask me each time FSX starts, if Tacpack should also start, that way it will not be resident for planes that do not use it, tying up memory and processor cycles.

If Tacpack is running, you will have extra selections in the Addons menu item. If they are there then the A-10 should be able to access the weapons selection panel and be able to launch loaded weapons and be shot down by SAMs.

I recommend you watch the tutorial videos provided by the developer of the A-10. I had the FSX running and the Youtube video running at the same time so I could follow along. It is somewhat complicated to launch the laser guided stuff and took me multiple times through the video to get all the steps down pat. As they say practice, practice, practice.

Dave Thank you,i will go back and watch the videos, the issue im having in truth is that when the A-10 loads,i almost immediately get the dreaded "ping" telling me im out of memory (is the virtual mem?..or physical?) i have no idea if its from the tacpac,or the A-10 itself..so im going to unload tacpac and test a while, then reinstall and try again...but i have a feeling its going to have to wait until i buy my new gaming machine.

I think the Tacpack manager has a checkbox to disable the program from loading at FSX startup. If you tell it to not load or to allow you to select at startup that will keep you from having to go through the uninstall process.

I bought TACPACK when it first came out with the Superbug, but have never even tried it. So, as I understand it, the standalone package will still only work with aircraft like the Superbug and Dino's creations? NC

The standalone package will work with any aircraft that has been modified to use it, not to many yet, but now that it's a stand alone product I am guessing the number will go up. :)

If you have purchased the Superbug and Tacpack combo, that will also work with Dino and Iris's Tacpack products. You will have to update to the latest version of Tacpack and the associated Superbug for it to work though. They are both available for free to existing customers.

So my question then would be if I have updated my installation of TackPac, will it be the same as the standalone version? NC

ive had to remove both tacpac and my new IRIS A-10,my system runs out of virtual memory about 30 seconds into the program ,,i mean when everything loads and im on the tarmac....all my other planes are not effected....BTW i first removed tacpac..and then tested the A-10...got the same..and that included a complete reboot.
