This repaint represents Grumman F9F-5 Panther, BuNo 125541, of VF-783, side number 213, aboard USS Oriskany, 1952-53. One of its pilots was Lt. (jg) Henry Egan who named it "Sharon." VF-783 was originally a reserve squadron established in 1948 and called to active duty in 1950. 783 was re-designated as VF-122 in February 1953 during its 1952-53 deployment aboard USS Oriskany.
