News From 'Vulcan To The Sky':

"What a high yesterday was, with the culmination of your great financial support and the dedication of our small team, resulting in Avro Vulcan XH558 returning to the skies once again to begin what is hopefully, going to be the most exciting display season since her restoration.
Thank you to everyone who made it happen!

We had to wait till nearly 5pm before the weather at Robin Hood was good enough for the crew to start engines. Thankfully, just before 5.30pm, XH558 rose off Runway 20 and headed south-east to start a pre-determined series of maneuvers and tests of her systems.

Piloted by Kevin Rumens and Paul Mulcahy, CAA Chief Test Pilot, and accompanied by AEOs Barry Masefield and Phil Davies in the back, the crew assiduously recorded all of the results of the various tests, whilst going through all the regions of the cleared flight envelope. This included shutting down and re-lighting each engine in turn, and carrying out other in-flight emergency procedures. All this was conducted at between 5,000 and 14,000 feet in clear and open airspace for reasons of safety.

Landing back at 18:58, the engines were kept running and Martin Withers effected a crew change with Paul before carrying out four low level circuits including two "rollers" to maintain his currency, allowing Paul to complete his test flight report on the ground. It was nearly 19:45 when the engines were finally shutdown."

I'll see her May 20th Probably/hopefully for the Flypast during the opening of the Falklands War Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum :jump: then again at RIAT! :jump: but she's looking good!

Maybe a touch too 'glossy' for my taste, but this was apparently deliberately done for the Falkland Anniversary, Queens's Jubilee, and Olympics in 2012, to make her look at her best.
What a great achievement from the public in these bad times to allow such an icon to remain airworthy! :salute:
I hope to be seeing her three or four times this year, depending on personal circumstances...
(Definitely Farnborough, Bournemouth, Jubilee in London, maybe RIAT)
No display dates have been confirmed yet apart from today's flypast in Newark, commemorating all V-Bombers.

Marvellous:medals:

I have lived 54 of my 60 years just a couple of miles from Avro Woodford and I saw many Vulcs in the 60s and 70s.

Oi! Matt!

Why did you never mention this before...?
Fantastic as usual :applause:
I just can't believe how quick you can work, the new paint scheme was only revealed last week!

Beers on me!

Cheers, Stuart

FS2004 RAF Avro Vulcan 2012. A repaint of JustFlight's RAF Vulcan. This a B.2, the sole flying example of a Vulcan, seen here in its 2012 repaint form, most likely the gloss paint is to protect the airframe that little bit more. By Matt Wynn.

and i'm already getting sketchy info in regarding the design of this years demo hawk too via a 'contact' :icon_lol:

i plan to do other Vulcs, not just 'five-five-eight'/G-VLCN..... get some of the fast taxi bird re-conditioned for virtual flight eh? :icon_lol: but yeah 558 is looking good for this season, likewise i'm not sure about the gloss but if it has any benefit over matte paint in the UK environment with regards to preservations.... thats always a bonus! :jump:

Amazing that this keeps flying every year - it can't be cheap. Of all the warbirds in the world this is the one I would like to see flying the most.
