Waco CG-4 Hadrian released by Baldy!

Further to my compulsion about gliders I have just now uploaded a new model of the Waco CG-4 ( Hadrian to us British ). This not entirely my own work since most of the original modelling was done by Stephen Daly in 2004. He never finished it but put the source file out on the net where it sat patiently waiting for me to pick it up thirteen years later. His work certainly saved me time and effort -- so with UncleTgt's fine skins I think I can claim a three part effort.

Practically everywhere British and US airborne forces served the CG-4 was used -- Northern and Southern Europe,Burma, China and the Pacific area the CG-4 was there

The skins in the upload depict a/c at Normandy, Sicily and the Far East, others will depict Arnhem, the Rhine Crossing, training and finally a/c of RAF Hadrian squadrons in SEAC markings

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - American

Description: The most widely used glider of WWII with nearly 14000 being built. It served in the Mediterranean area, Southern France and finally Northern Europe against the Germans. It also served against the Japanese in Burma, China and in the Pacific area. Mainly flown by US personnel and towed by US a/c it was also piloted by British crews on several missions. The loads carried varied from thirteen fully equipped troops to jeeps, bulldozers and even mules for the 75mm pack howitzer which it also carried. Although used by British forces on ops those gliders carried US markings as they were issued from US bases.

New Guinea rescue

I've recently read Gerard Devlin's book 'Silent Wings' ( history of US glider forces ). In it he relates the tale of a rescue mission carried out in New Guinea in 1945 by means of paratroopers and a glider of the survivors of a C-47 crash in a remote region of New Guinea. Having been fascinated by this story I looked on the net for more info and discovered this short film on Youtube
