Warbirds over Wanaka 2012

I didn't make it this year (its cheaper for me to fly to Australia than Wanaka) but I am aware there is some interest here of this show.

No RAAF partcipation, Jurgis Kiarys or overseas warbirds (apart from a demo Hawker T-6B) this year but this was more than offset by the Wanaka debuts of Doug Booker's Spitfire TR9, Brendon Deere's Grumman Avenger (actually was Wanaka resident some years ago but has been recently reimported), a recently restored Yak-3 and the BAC Strikemaster.

The weather was also very good.....actually very warm all over the country for this time of year.

Unfortunately the Avro Anson still has not flown so it didn't make it and as did the FW-190 which still has some issues. Hopefully both will be at the next WOW.

There are a few threads at NZFF with photos...heres one that sums it up nicely

Thanks for these Naki, I haven't a hope of getting to that one! I had thought there might be an outside chance of seeing the Mosquito currently being completed in NZ at the show, but I suppose I'm jumping the gun by about 6 months!

Cheers!
