Warbirdsim and repaints

Can you add repaints to the FSX Version of Warbirdsim's B, C, III, Mustangs with just the original download and activation....I have not read otherwise but on the fs9 version it stopped it from working when you edited the aircraft.config

Jankees and others have some fine paints for them :ernae:

There's no problem with editing the .cfg file for the FSX version with Notepad or any other word processing program that I am aware of. In the FS9 release, you too could edit the .cfg file as well, but using something other than Notepad, such as Wordpad - not that there was any intent in doing this, but that the program used for creating the .cfg file caused this issue to occur. There are of course other ways of resolving it, such as simply creating a new .cfg file, and putting all of the information into it, effectively solving the issue altogether.

I'm not sure anymore...
I could for a while, until I reached 30 repaints, the rest would not show up...
so I threw out the paints that came with it, and now nothing works anymore.
anti piracy, OK, but this is getting out of hand. You can't see it in the selection panel, you can't see it with the recorder unless you fly it yourself too, and now I can't see it at all...
I just uploaded my last repaints for this (now transparant) bird, and I have more or less given up for now.
Let's see if warbirdsim have a solution...

I seem to remember Jan Kees stating a short while ago that he had found a limit to the number of repaints he could add without the model stopping. That would imply very strongly that you can add repaints without any problems up to that point.

Edit: OK. I was a bit late on that one. :d

Hmm:kilroy: maybe Bomber_12th can help us out as your paints are a must have
Thanks Jankees :applause:

How does limiting the number of repaints curtail product piracy? I fail to see the logic. :isadizzy:

You imply that these are some sort of 'features' Warbirdsim decided to include in the security, which is simply not true. Warbirdsim has been actively working to resolve such issues if at all possible.

Sorry, I may be mistaken.
It's just that this model is the only one that suffers from these transparancy issues, max repaints and recorder problem that I know of, and I assumed it had something to do with the anti piracy measures (if you have a pirated version, all you have is a transparant aircraft, that sort of thing).
If they are not, what is going on then?
Can I do a re-install, I seem to remember that those were limited as well?

Jan Kees,

The culprit of the issues is in trying to explore a business-saving measure, i.e. security, that is unlike what others have tried before, so there are unfortunately instances where the new security works where you want it, but comes with a couple obscure drawbacks.

Make me responsible for saying it, but I don't see there being any problem if you want to reinstall the product. It is only a bit troublesome, but fixable, if you try installing onto a new OS, or a new machine.
