Yes.

I like both. It depends on what I'm doing in FS. Sometimes, if I'm just flying around in a warbird, I like the updated/modern instruments as I consider myself flying it in the present day.

However, if I read about a WW2 mission I want to go fly, I like the original instruments. Now, I do try to fly the WW2 Missions in some combat sims, but many of them are quite limiting in the territory they've modeled. Whereas, I know I can fly any mission in FS.

For me, it simply isn't an either or proposition. If it's a plane I want and it has been fairly well modeled, I'll buy it regardless of the type of instrumentation.

I would not say you got gypped. You served with honor and contributed your part for victory.

Would I be right to guess convoy protection duty?

Was the SB2C used on Atlantic-convoy escort carriers ? My impression is that the American ones carried Avengers and Wildcats. Could be wrong, I often am.

I like em restored and flying in today's world. I can simulate an airshow or a ferry flight in a warbird in FSX but I can not simulate warfare. There are good sims that are more suited for this type of flying.

We didn't have any Wildcats. They had been long retired. We had two squadrons of F6-F Hellcats. Two squadrons of SB2C Helldivers and one squardron of TBF Avengers.

Were the SB2Cs carrier based or shore based , Helldiver ? I've only ever seen Avengers and Wildcats in photos of the Atlantic escort carriers ( maybe Hellcats too, can't remember ).
