Water Problem

I know this is probably an old problem and a easy fix but I can't find any info on the problem of the water running part way up the shoreline and not laying flat as it should. It happens only on certain scenery locations I have installed and just at certain points on the shoreline. Can anyone help me out on how to correct this?

Thanks.

If you're using Rhumbas mesh you'll get this in various areas. Until someone redoes island chains to more accurately fit the mesh ...

If it's a stock install, the "old" (pre-Rhumba mesh)PTO water flattens should correct any issues you're seeing.

The only mesh I have activated is DEM8 in my scenery library. I had the same problem before I installed and activated DEM8. I just got done downloading and installing PTO_flattens.zip. Seemed to help a little but not as much as I'd hoped. Thank you Uncle Tgt. :wavey:

I also came across "CFS2 Coast Pacific" on the Simviation Site and it seemed to work much better than the PTO_flattens.zip. Not 100% but on several locations a very noticeable improvement.

kwb: I was looking for that exact download but could not finish my hunting because I had to go out somewhere. Yes it works well with the stock coastlines, but I have no idea how it would work with Rhumbas stuff.

I found it here second from the bottom. I agree Shadow. From what little I've seen with all the other scenery's I have installed other than stock and just have DEM8 activated in the library, not so much.

Hi kwb737,

Rhumba made clear on several occasions that everything he developed with corrected elevation data would conflict with any correction made previously to the stock sceneries.

This includes his early world coastline flattens like this one you found at Simviation. "Rhumbaflappy" is Richard Ludowise' web pseudonim.
He also advised against using his old water flattens on top of his newer mesh, as it would create even worse mesh conflicts.

It's the same old dilemma with PTO ever since Rhumba's new mesh and flattens were released. They are a very accurate work, but they create more problems in the PTO, with all of its thousands of small islands and coastlines, than the rest of the world.

After a while, I had to revert back for my PTO install to the stock mesh, nicely corrected with early Rhumba's water flattens. Our good Rami suggests to do the same, when installing his great PTO campaign packs.

Cheers!

You're welcome, sir.

I don't know whether you are aware that Rhumba made coastline water flattens for the entire stock CFS2 world. Better, for all of the world areas involved in WWII. They can be found at Simviation, Avsim.com and Flightsim.com.

Here you can find Ettico's improvements for:

  1. United States rivers and lakes ---------------------------> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5986
  2. Japan flattened lake beds --------------------------------> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5987
  3. PTO/Southeast Asia flattens plus river and lake beds --> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5988

Naturally, all of the above works only with stock CFS2 mesh files.

Cheers!
