Way OT. . .but I need some help here

For some unknown reason, I am unable to keep login information saved on the myriad of sites I frequent. No matter what I do, once I leave a site and come right back I have to reenter my ID and password all over again. This just started a few weeks ago and I suspect my youngest granddaughter is the culprit. I think she unknowingly did something while working on her myspace page and now login info is dumped after every session. I've checked all the obvious "options" drop downs for Vista but can't find anything amiss. . .everything seems to indicate that personal info should be saved when a session closes but it isn't.

Anyone have any ideas where else I can check?

Your cookies are being deleted.

Without cookies, you are stealth and sites will not know your last login point or if you are a member, etc.. Cookie ID's say it all...

Hmmm, ok. . .thanks Bill, I'll dig a bit deeper and see what's happening here.

It turns out that this was a known bug within Firefox. Once the most recent update is installed Firefox tends to no longer remember ID and password info. I had to go into a hidden file folder and delete a few files, then restart firefox for it to rewrite the corrupted files. . .everything seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for the push in the right direction, it got me looking where I hadn't thought to look before.

Maybe I'm a bit daffy...but I set my system up NOT to remember or store passwords. And I have Firefox set up to remove cookies when I close the browser. And I run CCleaner every time I get off line. I don't want cookies, internet history, or any other junk sitting around on my system. I don't want my passwords on my system where a hacker could get at them.

So, in my book, having all that stuff wiped off the system when I leave the internet is a good thing.
