Hi,

I'm a beta tester for the FSRealWX freeware software - see http://www.fsrealwx.net/ - and tried the latest lite version as well as the beta V2 variant.
Works well under P3D V2.1hf1 with FSUIPC (needed, no simconnect). I like that it is not bloated with functions one never uses and it's quite fast, and of course, the Lite version is free.
There's even a version that can be setup as a server on a different machine.
Furthermore, updates are a breeze and are delightfully uncomplicated (I say that with a destinct look at another competitive payware product).

So, what weather generating software do you use? Any comments or experiences under the different P3D versions?

Cheers,
Mark

Mark,

Glad to see that FSRealWx_Lite is getting more fans. What I've done for V2.1 is load the graphics from REX_2 into P-3D and then utilize the FSRealWx Engine to produce the weather. Willy and the Flight19 Group introduced me to that program last year and as you say, it's simple, updates are easily handled and it's Free!! It seems to be custom made for P3D currently as it doesn't appear that LM is working to produce a weather engine.

I was always a fan of Active Sky series and currently using ASN for FSX which works quite well and is quite simple to setup and use. I use REX4 textures in both sims.

So far I use nothing in P3D v2 for weather, waiting for the v2 version of ASN to come up. However, that FSRealWx thing you both mention sounds appealing.

In Active Sky 2012 is a weather problem if You have checked "Volumeric FOG" in P3Dv2. I hope this bug will be solved.

Since I also have REX I'll try to move the textures to the latest P3D installation. The only thing that bothers me about the default as well as the REX textures is that the tropical shallow ocean textures are not seamless in all combinations. Can't have it all!

Cheers,
Mark

I purchased FSGRW a couple of months ago and I'm very pleased with it so far..

I've tried all the 'freeware' ones and there ok however the biggest issue I've always notice is that they didn't represent what the 'Metar' was saying and I HAVE NOT had that experience with FSGRW.. So far, whatever the 'Metar' says, that's what is going to show in the sim !!!!

Along with working in FS9 / FSX and P3D v1.4, they have recently 'updated' so as to include P3D v2.1

I finally installed the P3D version of ASN. Not sure if it is ASN of P3D or combination of both that created that low mist but it looked spectacular. Also the wind was variable from 7 to 32 knots creating all sorts of navigation and approach/landing issues. It seems to work well.
