Weird Panel Issue

OBIO

Retired SOH Admin
Working up a nice panel set up for the Alphasim RA-5C Vigilante. Got it done...nice gauges, lots of useful pop up windows and maybe a couple not so useful pop up windows.

Here's the weird issue: If I fire up the sim, create my flight with the Vigilante with the 2nd paint, the 2D panel does not fully display...about the bottom fourth is covered over by a black bar. If I switch to the first paint, the panel displays fully. If I switch back to the 2nd paint, the panel displays fully. If I start the flight using the first paint, no issues at all.

Now...both paints are directed to the exact same panel folder, the exact same panel config....nothing is different.

I know that sometimes the sim can get a bit boggled if there are lots and lots of planes and/or paints. This is my Modern install...with maybe 15 addon planes..if that. A good number of AI from Bill Lyon's scenery that comes with his planes.

Is this just one of those unexplainable things caused by the passing through of a transient gremlin?

No excuses; it's all explainable.

Pictures would have helped our guessing.

My guess is this is a bad windowsnn statement leftover or not totally defined.

I have this effect occuring now and then after panel tweaking - haven't seen any Gremlin causing it... :d

I think your panel.cfg section should start like this:

[Window00]
file=main_neu5.bmp
size_mm=1024,768
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=7
visible=1
ident=0
window_size= 1.000, 1.333
window_pos= 1.000, 1.000

How about yours?

Here's the upper part of the panel.cfg in question. Main panel, 6 pop up windows and a fixed window for the recon camera view.

[Window Titles]

Window01=Nav Instruments
Window02=Radio Stack
Window03=ECU
Window04=Engine and Fuel Management
Window05=GPS
Window06=CD Player
Fixed Window30=Camera View

Panel works flawlessly if I create a flight using the first skin [fltsim.0], but if I start it a flight with the second skin [fltsim.1], the lower part of the main panel does not show. If I go through the ALT menu and select the first skin, the panel is fine, then if I go back through the ALT menu are reselect the second skin, the panel is fine there after. If I start a flight with the first skin [fltsim.0] the panel is fine.

Using the same Model folder, same MDL file, same air file, same aircraft config file, same SOUND folder. I have not been able to see any cause for this anomaly.
