I've completed the second Beaver Island Airport and would like to get a few folks to try it on their setups. Just PM me and I'll send you a download link. Thanks!

I'm First I Guess

Here is my review of Welke Airport which Ed sent to me to test. First all the buildings are up to his high standards no question. It has some nice "eye candy" with the end loaders and piles parked down at one end of the runway. This morning's first three shots were ORBX BOB and I walking all around the airport which fortunately was not KORD LOL! but a small airport. Ed says he used ORBX Basic and Vector when building it but all my shots are FSX Acceleration. I am able to run my sliders wide open so I think that the ground quality is quite good even without ORBX. Check it out:

These were all taken this morning. My FPS were 60-70 with no aircraft only BOB.

The next two shots for comparison are at the other end of the airport with a Carenado C208B Cargo to test the impact with a payware aircraft that is not gentle on fps. I still got 35-50 fps. This I think is a really great airport. And best of all when its done, Falcon 409 is posting it for free here when he's ready.

Thanks Ed for taking all the time to give us this really nice unique airport. I may fly out a little later to deliver FEDEX to my KMBL in Manistee Co, MI. that I haven't had a chance to do today.

Thanks for that Richard. Everyone who has tested seems to have the same response for the most part. There was some discussion about flickering which I was aware of but can do nothing about. I have adjusted the hangars as much as possible to eliminate it and it still shows on a few. Also, what I have found is that if the Water setting is set at max or close to it, that also causes flickering in some objects. . .no idea why really but in this case where water is a major part of that area and given that once on the ground the flickering around the hangars is less noticeable or gone completely. . .let it go folks, lol.

I have uploaded the scenery so it should be available later on today.

When I first started out

I thought that I saw flickering on some hanger in the distance too but as Bob and I got closer all the flickering disappeared. A couple months ago when I posted an airport you commented that you saw a hanger flickering but when I opened up the airport on my FSX it was not there so maybe it depends on FSX and what it feels like on that day. Its a Microsoft thing like so many others in FSX(A) that can't be explained or even worse I hear in MSFS. Could also be a Windows thing too. I run Windows 7 64bit and have 8GB RAM I just expanded which the extra 4GB of RAM took away a lot of FSX issues I used to have. Regardless its a great airport and thank you for all your hard work.

I'll add that the daily commuter flight is visible parked near the "hanger row" at about 9:30 am local time each day. This is static AI only. Thanks to Ed for is bountiful production of interesting airfields. These are very enjoyable and also have improved my geographical awareness!
