Granted a win is a win that's what counts, but the BOYS outplayed Pittsburg all during the second half go look at the replays, and if ya look at the stats it shows they had nothing to be ashamed of. Some of you guys never played football and it shows in your comments.
For instance have you ever tried throwing an ice cold football with a formally broken or sprained pinkie finger. Very little control!!! It takes a long time to heal. My senior year of high school. I jammed my pinkie finger on the sled we used to push all over the field with coach standing on it and yelling at us. Quarterbacks had to do it to because we were expected to block too.
I was backup QB and I had nursed that finger as best I could for four weeks and it just never seemed to heal enough to get absolute control of the ball. I failed to make a 10 yard pitch that had to be thrown quickly as I was going down. It wobbled right into Jefferson High School's Defensive End and missed my guys by 3 feet. The End scored. It was 17 degrees and that ball was cold as ice, so was my hand that pinkie hurt for the whole game. Our third string QB came in on the next set and we won the game, but it sure wasn't because of me.
I felt awful about it because we had 3 point lead with 2:21 seconds left in the game. Now we were fighting the clock. The guys were great and never said one bad word about it, but I still felt horrible for days after. One day, Coach Johnson showed me how important that pinkie finger was in throwing a football accurately. I was sure grateful to my Coach.
GO COWBOYS!
