Well, what's this mess!

SOH-CM-2024
Going into MSFS 2020 and get to the Checking Updates window, then this; see screenshot below. It's taking forever and nothing is loading at the bottom. I did a Task Manager check and MSFS is loading slowly, by nothing has happened in 15 minutes. Think I'm going to do an End Task and Restart. I have little patience with computers and less with cell phones.

Looks like it's down again. :banghead: The official forum is filling up with users that can't get in. (1708Z)

I got into the air with a workaround:
  1. Launch sim
  2. When the Checking for Updates screen appears, disconnect from the internet
  3. Get the disconnected warning and a screen with a null bytes update - click Continue.
  4. Reconnect to internet once the generic loading screen appears.

And now it seems to be loading normally-ish. It's still as slow as it has been recently, but at least it's loading.

5 pm Central US time. Stuck on Updates screen. No go. MSFS2024 VR is not working. I give up. No simming today.:mad::mad:

Just finished a slow flight in the brsims ERCO Aircoupe 415 around Okinawa. Worked fine for me in 2024.

is this the MSFS2020 forum? and is this a topic about MSFS2020 not loading?
It seems that the two flight sims are being merged in both forums - this and the official - until it's impossible to follow.
At least SOH still has a 2020 page I guess - the official site is just completely blended. They aren't even trying to keep order to it, same as the Xbox vs PC problem. You have to ask folks each time 'do you mean for PC or console'

Since it seems the problems are the servers, and both sims apparently use the same ones, and some of us are going back and forth with both sims, the answers could be blended. IMHO.

If a thread that's primarily intended for 24 ends up here, I'll move it to Priller's section, and I would imagine he'd do the same - once Dave gets all the permissions sorted...

As for the official board, the first thing I click is the FS2020 button at the top to filter out any threads not tagged with that subject. Granted, some people tag-spam with both the 20 and 24 tags, but that's not too common - thankfully.

I just started the sim (because you guys got me worried), and I got a 45 MB update. It's loading now, but did have a few warnings about online services not being available.

EDIT: just got a very agreable "hooligan flying" flight over Compton-Abbas in my namesake's Fw-109.

Hi Tom, think this might work for my situation? mine is stuck with " checking for updates" and a turning circle under it. id left for 2 weeks, nothing has happened there either, well doing that. i cant afford '24 yet. ive tried every suggestion the guys left me in the other two posts i made asking for help, and i really dont want to delete it and start over. thats gonna take forever to get all updates for the sim itself, then theres the planes, and im unclear if i still have the download links and everything like that, might all be on icloud? thanks

It does work, I helped a friend with Tom's advice just tonight. Difference between my mate and me is that he is in the US, I'm in Europe. Both of us are on Steam.

I haven't had any trouble getting in today, but that's not counting the much increased time spent on that Checking for Updates screen. Before 24 launched, that only took about a half-second. Now, it's a minute or two.

No problems since that episode, except it sure is taking a long time on Checking For Updates than it did before.
