Westland Wessex?

Timmy74

SOH-CM-2016
Hello Gentlemen,

I was wondering if there is a Westland Wessex for FSX out there at all? I have found a "simshed" one but that is for MSFS 2004. I have seen (after typing "Westland Wessex for FSX" in my search engine), pictures and comments in FSX but not sure how it is done??

Any tips and comments would be appreciated thank you.

Regards,
Tim...

Hi Tim,

I have both RAF and RN versions running reasonably well on FSX; I took a chance on them to see IF they'd port over, and they do quite well!
Some graphics are a little 'old style', not up to full FSX spec., but it doesn't detract too much from the 'Old Girl', and she flies nicely and sounds good too!

Cheers,
Tim.

Hi Tim,

Download both RAF and RN versions according to your choice from the Simshed site; and install pretty much the same as any of your other a/c's, obviously placed in your Sim Objects, Rotorcraft file.
PS. The only thing the I did add in myself were some appropriate thumbnail images; but only to make them easier to pick out from my aircraft list!

Thank you very much gentlemen,

I shall pop over to Simshed, download, install and get flying.

I feel a lot more comfortable now speaking you guys here. Your input is greatly appreciated.:wiggle:

Tim..

You're very welcome Tim.
If you do run up against any hiccups along the way (I doubt that you will); there's always help here at SOH!
PS. Post some screen shots of your first Wessex flight🚁
ChipShop👍😉

Now off to explore in her some more....

I know this is stretching the Wessex association a bit, but ive been playing with WILLY VERVAECKE's Sikorsky hss-1, its an FS9 model that seems to work well out the box in FSX, im also using some SEA repaints by our own SOH member Hooky722 which also work well, the original model come's with Belgium airforce colors.
I dont know if anyone's seen the new Guy Richie version of the MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E movie. but i find it ironic that 20 years ago, Wessex's were being used in Full Metal Jacket for hss-1's, but now as there are no flying Wessex's available, the film makers have to use a hss, in place of an Wessex.

cheers ian

Somehow though, to me at least, it just doesn't look right without the Bristol Siddley Gnome Turboshaft engines, and the associated 'chin' air intake!
