What a differents 85 years makes

In the local paper here (U-T San Diego) they have a weekly local history article. For April 28, 1927, "Charles Lindbergh tested the Spirit of St. Louis." Three weeks later he flew that same plane alone to Europe. Think the FAA would let you get away with that now?
