What are the changes to the Drivable MTB's .cfg file ?

Gents:

I got the cfs3_vista_win7_corrections files to make my Brit Vosper Drivable MTB's work OK with new Win-7 Premium Gaming machine. In fact, I was successful in making several missions in ETO, and a PT-109 mission set in PTO_Solomons with all of the new O-1 Driver's stuff. Even his new ETO effects.xml file works OK (and a bit better, IMHO) in PTO. Not yet done much with PTO_R-S.

From the readme's, seems he "adjusted" the .cfg file somewhere. But I can't find any major differences in either the .cfg or the .air files. So, here is my question...

I plan to make a PTO_Solomons Iron Bottom Sound re-enactment mission set. I plan to use the older versions of a long-past friend, "Mr. P-M", who built some of the most fantastic drivable vehicles, mobile weapons, flame thrower weapons, and drivable ships for CFS3 that I have ever used. For this Iron Bottom Sound set, I plan to use his drivable Clemson DD Destroyer, and his ELCO Drivable PT Boat. Lots of hacking to make them work in ETO and PTO_Solomons, but... There is possibly the chance that they will do the same nose-over dive when the game is run.

Does anyone know exactly what the "edits" were that O-1 Driver did to the Vosper MTB .cfg and/or .air files to keep this from happening when using Drivable Ships on a Win-7 Premium machine? I would like to do this in advance of builing a very complicated Multi-Battleship and Destroyer mission set, only to find out that the Drivable Destroyer won't work in PTO on a Win-7 machine.

BTW, once I have them fully test flown and refined, I plan to Upload my last 7 ETO & PTO_Solomons mission sets for all your enjoyment and comments.

Glad to be back hacking CFS3, even if not as much as i would like to.

Hi SPQR33

The MTB/S-Boot Project was corrected by gosd for Vista & Win7. These boats from Seacondor’s project were unable to work in some Vista & Win7 set-ups. However gosd altered the propellor entries in the CFG file and they work. You can pick up the corrected boats at http://www.beauscfs3.leaveningonline.com/html/ships_boats.html. O-1 Drives dis some great work on the ai boats to make them more aggressive, these can also be found there too.

I could never get Philip's PT Boat to work, if it does then I've some ideas for missions in that I've read about in MAW theatre. Sounds good what're your doing.

My Dear Beau:

Great Site with much more stuff than I thought possible for any CFS3 ADd-On.
this includes the Regshanger GC Site.

I have gosd's direct e-mail address, as he is one of my Test Pilots for my mission sets. I'll contact him directly.
I got the corrected CFS3 Vista Win-7 stuff & O-1 Driver's new MTB's with effects.
This also works great with my trial built missions sets in ETO & PTO.
I liked his ETO effects.xml file loaded into PTO. For me, it works great too.

If gosd's hacks work, then I may consider some MAW PT Boat missions. But for now, I'm into PTO_Solomons, and want to re-create the Iron Botton Sound Mission using Phillip M's Drivable Clemson DD Destroyer.
It would make a good Replica for the Destroyer USN Quincy, whose Captain made many Torpedo and Gun Attacks on a Jap Battleship Group in this area.

Beau, all of my thanks for your info and advice.
When I get all of my acts together, I plan to petition SOH to renew my Upload priveleges.
During my Away Time, I still built many missions, sent to Rene Reniemann for Test flights.
I'm most proud of my Tail #666 B-17 recon mission, and the latest PT-109 Maybe missions set in the PTO Slot near Santa Isabel island.

Again, my thanks for your help and info.

Glad to be of help. Could I have a copy of the working PT Boat. I had some communication with Philip M ages ago over the probs I was having with it but he couldn't help but was quite easy about me using it for missions if I got it working. I have already done a mission set for MTB's in the Adriatic Sea in MAW, and would like to do more but re-create some of the joint missions that occurred with PT Boats.

Beau: Got an e-mail reply from GOSD & got his hacks to the Brit Vosper MTB's .cfg file. I plan to get this hacked stuff into Philip-M's Clemson, and a trial to his ELCO PT boat.
Way back then, I hacked all of his weapons & effects & guns loads. His work on the drivable vehicles was superb, but his other weapons & guns & loads stuff was a bit wanting.
I never had trouble with his ELCO PT boat on my Win-XP Pro Major Gaming Machine, but that is all in the past now.

After I load it all onto ETO & PTO and get it all hacked up to standards, I'll send to you working copies of both the Clemson DD & his ELCO PT boat for your use.

Beau, all my sincere thanks for your expert help and your fine site.
Once I get my upload privleges back, please download them and enjoy my challenging missions.
Will be in touch soon with all you will need; assuming GOSD's hacks work on P-M's stuff and this new 64-bit machine of mine.

Beau: I got P-M's Clemson loaded into PTO_Solomons for my Iron Bottom Sound Mission Set. The Clemson works OK as is without need for GOSD's .cfg file hacks. And with all of the new effects in PTO, his guns work just fine. Right now I have my usual locator mission made, a Practice Run Fly-over, and am now building a "Target Practice" mission for the Clemson. Once done, I'll begin the Night Suicide Attack by the USN DD Quincy, whose Captain continued to attack a Major Jap Battle Group, finally sinking his ship somewhere between Savo and Florida Islands just before dawn.

Next will be to load it into ETO once I'm satisfied with its performance in PTO_Solomons.

As to the ELCO PT boat, well, it ran on my old system OK. But with this new Win-7 64-Bit machine, well, the PT boat practice mission has the PT boat starting at about 30,000 feet in the air. No matter what I tried with M-B or other manual settings, and I hacked GOSD's .cfg file into thie ELCO PT boat... all to no avail. Sorry, but I still believe there is something in the .air file, not the .cfg file. And I'm not great hacking these two files, except for minor performance improvements in both.

If you can contact Philip-M, perhaps you could get his Rights to upload the Clemson to your fine site, along with any and all of his other superb mobile weapons, flame thrower & Napalm Rockets stuff. Sorry, but his old e-mail address went away with my old machine's hard drive.

If not, please send me a personal E-Mail to " spqr@verizon.net " and I'll send to you the Original ZIP file from P-M for his DD Clemson. I have every Zip file he ever posted on my back-up drive.

I also get this problem in most of my games except in Maw.I think it has to do with win7 and how it reads the files.
I use win7-32.

Got Both of P-M's Clemson & ELCO PT boats going !

Dear GOSD and to Beau Brummie if you are following this thread:

This may turnout to be a rather long reply post, but I think worth the effort to make PTO_Solomons, a mostly Sea and Beach Landing War, much more intersting to the new player.
BTW, I moved over the VII Drivable Sub from ETO and it works OK... remember the Submarine wars in the South Pacific? Highly recommended for Mission Builders.

Anyway..........:banghead:
First, it took me about 12 hours to correct dozens of Code Errors with both of P-M's Drivable ships. It had nothing to do with the .air or .cfg files.
(Though I did Copy-Paste GOSD's "Propeller" code line Hacks just to be safe).
It was more with the weapons P-M created and used in Improper Quantity and mis-spelled code referencing the guns and Rounds.

He was a Great Artist, an Imaginative Developer; a Leonardo daVinci of skinning all sorts of mobile machines.
However, his attention to the Code's details and "Sensitivities" of the game were a bit off the mark.

Remember way back when Bill Sponge and others created Drivable Tanks (especially the M1A1 Abrams)?
The total "weight" of the carried rounds kept the tank from moving once engnes were started.
Solution? Simple... Open the game; set your options to Unlimited Fuel and Ammo, and Player Incincible.

So then I dropped the total number of Clemson's Big Gun's rounds carried to, like 10, and for the .50cal, etc, I set it to like 1000.
Suddenly the ELCO PT boat did not flip over on the Mission's Splash Screen, and when selected for a water mission, it stood stable, engines started, and ran normally.
Same with the Clemson DD. Did anyone notice that none of P-M's weapons did any damage except for the Torpedos?
Well, now all of the ELCO PT Boat's and the Clemson DD's guns blow stuff up quite nicely in my Target Practice Mission in PTO_Solomons.

I'm still trying to build more Target Practice Misions for these two drivable boats, just to be sure all of my Code Hacks works in various situations.
But I'm confident I have it resolved.

Also worthy of note, P-M built all his stuff for CFS3 v3.1a, using mostly very old 2002 Stock CFS3v3.1a guns & weapon rounds, with a minor "Tweak" or two.
I noticed that neither ETO or PTO versions have several of these guns or weapons rounds in their inventory.

When I'm sure I have it all fixed, I'll make available for personal use ZIP files loaded with the older CFS3 guns & weapons rounds, and the modified drivable ships .xml, etc, files.
I even got his Smoke Screen working, using Stock PTO effects code, but once activated, I can not figure how to turn it off !?!?!?! Har, har !!!!

GOSD, you were an inspiration to get this situation resolved.
And I really can't wait to find the time to Build my PTO Iron Bottom Sound Night Suicide Mission, with the Clemson DD acting like the USN DD Quincy.
