What good is Spot view? Can I use it with padlock view or player to target view. I ask the questions because I can't seem to get a grasp on what is happening and what I expect to happen when I choose the various options. I r cornfused!

"Spot View" becomes your dogfighting bread and butter.

A usefull tip: On servers that are 90%-100% or servers that only let you use cockpit view. DONT USE F5 or what ever it is to have the gadges and stuff. If you looking in the cockpit press ~ and your camera will track your target, much as if you had locked on to the target with your eyes.

See you in the skys :kilroy:

Isn't it only the "Player/Target" view which allows you to see a target? If I press F4 to get the "Spot" view, then select a target, then press CTRL+F4, it merely cycles to the next view - "Chase".

As far as I can tell, the "Spot" view merely allows you to see your own aircraft from the outside and, by hitting Numbers Lock then the numbers, you can change the perspective.

So, say I hit 'next target' and I was inside cockpit, then hit 'spot view' I would be outside my plane looking at the target? Would I have to hit 'player to target view' before spot view? Now lets say I jump back into the cockpit, would I loose my 'player to target' view? I am at work and can not try these things out.

I use the "Spot" view to make screenshots of a new repaint.

good enough for me :mixedsmi::mixedsmi:

I find it useful in ground attack to assess damage. Target view works too. Otherwise it's just fun for movie like shots.

spot view puts you outside you plane looking in the direction of the enemy you've selected...if he's behind you you'll see the front of your ship with the bad chap hosing you down from behind....if you've selected a ground target the view will be from the top of your ship looking to the ground.....on the other hand, if while still in that view mode, you hit shift/control/F4 (not just control/F4) the line of sight is reversed....from the enemy to you.....and while there you can cycle thru all the "next targets" to see what they are and where they're headed.......if you're looking at their tails, they're probably headed your way....very useful

gaw: Maybe it's my setup, but it's Player/Target view which does that, not Spot view. (Sort of makes sense. . . Player. . . Target.) Is there some other purpose for Spot view? Or for that matter, Chase View, other than an outside view of the aircraft, either static or moving.
