'What Was Steve Letarte Thinking?'

Hey All,
'What Was Steve Letarte Thinking?'

That Jimmie and Chad are gonna win 5 Cups in a row!:icon_lol:

-Ed-

PS: Note that the 48 still needs 5 more wins this year to keep up the average of 6 per year since the start of Jimmie's full time Cup career.

Well, at least the *** didn't luck up and win this week like he did last week in California. Congrats Ed, but last week I was fuming when he pitted under green and the caution came out and they let him get by with it. Either NASCAR is playing home cooking for Hendricks or he is the luckiest *** in the sport!

Did anyone else notice that when Gordo was in 1st that was the only position shown on TV, and then when Johnson took it they immediately gave a run down of all the other cars that lasted for several laps. It may be common practice for them to do that, I stopped watching Nascar several years ago, when Earnhardt Sr. would be a lap or 2 down and then through strategic one car crashes, bringing out the yellow, win the race. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you pay an "also ran" team to take a dive that gets your driver's lap back, it's money well spent. And how many week to week budgeted and sponsored teams were unofficially financed race to race by well heeled teams through taking a dive when asked? There was/is a definite pattern and you can't tell me that Nascar didn't see it, they just turned a blind eye to it, because those teams that were winning were who fans were coming to see. Professional wrestling on wheels. IMHO

I don't believe any conspiracy theory like that or Junior Earnhardt would have won more races in the Hendricks car he drives. But I swear if it doesn't look like they will butter the toast for the 48 team any time they can!

Hey All,

I don't buy the conspiracy theories either. There may have been some of that early on but I suspect not much. Not like F1 where it looks to be pretty standard what with cars pulling over and wrecking deliberately - last year even.

As for the 48 well the harder they work the luckier they get - from a Steven Segal movie - chance favors the prepared mind. Besides I really doubt NASCAR would favor a bland (Yes even I say Jimmie is bland compared to Sr) Californian given the roots of NASCAR are in the south. I'd expect them to favor the 88 or even the 5 over the 48 if you want to talk Hendrick. If NASCAR were to favor any team I'd most expect it to be RCR or maybe Earnhardt/Ganassi - but from the way racing goes I don't think for a moment they are playing favorites.

Panther how did you like McMurray taking out JPM? Bet JPM was NOT happy!

What is eveyone's opinion of Danica so far? I'm totally impressed with how she is handling the sure realization of how in over her head she is. She is one smart driver who will learn to drive NASCAR if she chooses to keep it up. She is no second coming of Sr but I think if she keeps at it she will win a race in NASCAR Cup because her fundamentally conservative save her equipment attitude will win races - not a lot but at least some. Also I've no doubt her NASCAR experience is gonna make her even more of a force to be reckoned with in Indy cars as she learns that a loose - not planted - car is OK even in Indy.

Ever hear of this guy? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant_Adcox

I had a close male relative (Father figure) that was a member of his crew, it's not a theory, it happens and still does, as much as we don't want to believe it, it has just been less obvious in the past. It's a show and barring unforeseen events at certain tracks the winners are determined before the flag drops, once again, "Wrestling on Wheels."

It makes sense that a rather bland Californian would be a favorite to try and expand the audience beyond it's current market. You don't preach to the choir on Sunday, you have to go after the ones that are just passing the collection plate. Follow the money and the south is broke.

I'm not seriously suggesting this by the way, but if you look at it in this light a lot of things just sort of fall into place that really don't any other way.

Hey All, I don't buy the conspiracy theories either.

So no more 'Mark Martin blew up his engine because he owned part of Matt Kenseths's team which enabled said Kenseth to win the championship' ?:wavey:

and one more thing...if i here the word 'dude' one more time outta Jimmie J....................:tgun2::angryfir:

Hey All,

Martin did blow his engine but that is a completely different deal than paying money to another team or driver to wreck at certain time(s) as a regular ongoing practice like Cadfather suggested with Sr. What Martin did was wrong as well and hasn't been repeated that I've been able to see.
