What's best nVidia (AGP) card?

For FS2004

I've always been an ATI guy for standard gaming. Now I only do Flight simulator, and it seems the rage is nVidia.

What can you recommend?

AGP ONLY

Don't get a 7600GS, that's all I can say. I think my 5600Ultra would have beat it.

Didn't know you could still get AGP cards.
I had a 7900GT which did the deed very well.

I had a Sapphire ATI Radion X1950 512MB AGP card in my last computer and it was an excellent card.
Very sharp graphics and great color.

I replaced my old 5600 card (not sure exact model) with a 7600GS and the new card runs rings around the old one. With all sliders maxed, I can fly in heavy clouds where I couldn't before.

I have a Geforce 7600 GT AGP 512MB in my XP rig that cost me some 90 EURO back last harvest .
It's very fast with both FS9 and FSX, just I have yet to see an Nvidia card that looks as good as an ATI card.

I'm trying to find an AGP card right now to give me a bit better performance than my BFG 7800GS OC. Had to go to higher resolutions with my new monitor and this card isn't really perfoming all that well now.

The 7600GT is supposed to be a very good card. I am using a 7800GS myself and am very happy with it.

PS. Running at 1920 X 1200 on a 27 in monitor and the GS seems to be holding its own on my rig.

Anyone using the Radeon HD 3850 AGP? If so how does it perform in FS? I know it's supposed to blow the doors off the Nvidia AGP cards.

That's what I have now. Compared to the X850XT pro which I had prior, it's quite a bit better. Personally I think it's over rated. Not to mention that there aren't (to my knowledge) many driver options for it. Also, ATI (AMD) isn't going to update them either. Omega on the other hand has been working on a new set of drivers for it. Release date unknown. To be able to tell you the version of drivers I'm running, you'll have to wait on that till my sim rig gets a new heart (psu) transplant. Which is on the way. I've always used ATI so I can't compare it to nVidia. Hard to change old habit.

The drivers included worked great right out of the box.

With the Radeon HD 3850 I can run max sliders with all settings activated. (fsX, no clue)

I was looking and saw new drivers for it listed on Sapphire's website. I'm really thinking about getting this card as the last hurrah for my AGP based system.

A high end AGP card may be difficult to find. The last AGP card I had was a 5950 Ultra. Do not buy one of those. Try to find something newer. While it was OK in it's day, there were better (ATI) cards available at the same time. I would guess a 7800 GS would be the best nvidia AGP card.....

I went from ATI to Nvidia and I was disappointed. I went back to ATI as soon as I could. The image quality in FS2004 was the reason. Once you get used to the ATI image, you won't like the Nvidia version--IMHO.

Still running my 6800XT AGP card and I love it.

Try eWiz.com. They usually have the older AGP cards at a very fair price. Also try Pricewatch.com. They have them still listed too. But like it was said, they are getting harder to find.

There's a 7950GT out there for AGP but from everything I've read the Radeon 3850 trounces it. Plus the 3850 AGP does DirectX 10.

Thanks for the tip GT. That's a nice site. Prices are reasonable. They have the ATI 3850 for $104.00!!

Also, Drake...

ATI has released new drivers for the HD3850. I've installed v9.3 and they're working great so far!! At this rate I'm smiling again :woot:
