What's going on in the "workshop"

Since you folks have been so receptive so far; I thought I would share what I have on my "workbench" at the present, and see what you think:

* Still plan to do a "modernized" version of the Fairchild 71; am dragging my feet because I don't have any panel design tools, and will have to craft a new panel by hand.

* Working on fits and starts on the next and last plane in the Early Fairchild Series, the Canadian-built Fairchild 82:

I don't have a three view, and only some oblique cockpit photographs to work with. I would appreciate it if anyone has any to pass along; in the meantime; it's accuracy will be less than perfect. Also, my first efforts to push the fusalage mesh from a base 71 to that of the 82 resulted in one ugly mesh; but I am slowly cleaning it up. It will use the same texture files as the rest of the project.

* I am going back, and doing some work on the "Early Steamers" my first project that was posted on the Old Hanger website. I have revised the models a little, changed the viewpoints, and fixed some texture issues. The only lights now are a soft glow in the cockpit from the fire in the boilers. The duTemple monoplane can now be flown in FS2002/FS2004 using "Easy" or "Moderate" realism settings; like helicopters, these early creations really shouldn't be flown on Hard realism settings due to their primitive aerodynamics. I am also attempting to build a launch ramp scenery for these early steamers; not having any luck yet making it's sloped surface "landable" (takeoffable?) I hope the Old Hanger admins will be interested in posting the updated project when it is finished.

* Now that I have full access to the Jenny in FS2004; I am also finishing up the cockpit on the Curtiss-Goupol "Duck" for release on the usual websites.

* Still working on fits and starts on Norman BelGeddes' Airliner No. 4. The cockpit is the main thing left that I need to "dream up."

* I decided my next major project will be the Breguet 19. It had lots of variations; including some that were used for record breaking flights. As far as I can tell, none have been made yet for FS. Found side views of several variations; but only a rough three view and no cockpit views. These would be welcomed.

Had nothing on the Fairchild but found some stuff on the Breguet. Attached are the small sized versions. If these can help you at all, PM me your email addy and I will send along the higher resolution copies.

Interesting planes there James!

Y'know if you run out of ideas you could always do a Fokker Super Universal...:gossip:
A Bre.19 is a pretty good plane though. IIRC I had flown one in my CFS2 days...not the best thing to be in when Nationalist NiD-52's are flying at you however...:kilroy:

have you tried the National Aviation Museum up in Ottawa? maybe they have something on their website... http://www.aviation.technomuses.ca/ they had awhole section on the Arrow a while back, and they have quiet a bit on the Jetliner too hehe

Moses;

Thanks for the drawings, just what I needed. :wiggle:

The bottom b/w drawing is of the Super Bidon "Point d'interrogation". I have found a FS2002 model of Super Bidon "Point d'interrogation" on a French website:

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/jm.mermaz/telecharg/breguet19/breguet19.htm

It's exterior is very nice; a different prop texture would probably added by some users. There is no pilot, and the VC is probably not up to what most people expect these days.

There is however, the Breguet 280T; a civil version of the 19 with a cabin fusalage, but using the wings and other bits from the 19:

So, the standard Breguet 19 A2/B2, the "Grand Raid" and 280T would seem to fill a gap well, with lots of common parts and dynamic files.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. You mean there is no model of the Fokker Super Universal? I would have thought such a common plane was done already. Then again, I did not realize just how many makes and model of aircraft there are out there until I tried to "collect the whole series" in my own "Virtual Museum." At last count, I have nearly 500 different models between the three different simulators; and still haven't scratched the surface. :faint:

I know! Closest thing I could find was one of Jens Kristensen's Fokker F.VIIa done up like one in Avsim but it's just not the same. I like the 'rough and tumble' look of the Super U.

The National museum does indeed have a -82 but the data on the website is limited to this:
http://www.aviation.technomuses.ca/collections/artifacts/aircraft/Fairchild82A/
contact them and see what else might be available

Western Canada Aviation Museum has a bit more:

and then there's the story of Chuck McAvoy:

BTW there's a FC-2 being built in Montreal :
