Much noice, pump, pictures and Hoola Hoola!!!!!! on the Alphasim Islander for a few weeks some months ago...then Silence!!!!!!.....hey guys, it is bad publicity to come out---water our mouths, get our paypals ready to jump, get our fingers itching, work us up as if it´s friday night with the lovely, sweet, desirable, best in the block lady ready to do her thing and then get the lady to dissapear as if an act of magic has been commited in the main square!!!!! ( to say the least!!)

Islander, baby where are ya!!!!!!!:pop4::pop4::pop4::pop4::isadizzy:

I'm not really sure what is going to happen with the Islander. As you probably know, Dan isn't part of Alphasim anymore. Maybe he'll respond next time he stops by the forum.

Hi guys,

since I've got it from a public source, I can tell ya:monkies:
I've seen a nice big write-up of it in PC Pilot magazine. According to that article, the Islander will be published like the Hunter and the Liberator as a boxed version by Flight1.
As to the date of release, the article shoots for "sometime in May"

Hope that makes you feel better...:jump:

Somewhere in the road they stated they´ll go primarily boxed products from now on, so no surprise there,...

Agreed, I think the Islander is safe from what ever woes ( perceived or actual ) Alphasim are experiancing recently. I'd read it was a boxed venture with Flight 1 with the model from Alphasim.

Not all products are targeted at the Flight 1 wrapper service, the Dauphin isnt, as yet I've no indication as to where the Hu-16 or the C-17 are headed, I suspect the ( and this is pure speculation based on subject matter and past historical events ) Hu-16 will be Alphasim download and the C-17 a Flight 1 wrapper aimed product. I believe all recent Flight 1 wrapper aircraft have also been available at Alphasim as a download so the Alphasim fans should still be able to get their wares in the traditional way, that may not hold true for the future but historically that has been the way.

On the other hand...and playing devils advocate a little...well alot :), the Islander has been driven by Dan and reading here and there is pretty much his product, so, it may 'only' appear through the Flight 1 wrapper. that would depend on the parting agreement between Dan and Alphasim. With my Alphasim hat on...that'd be a shame, with my FS community hat on.... these things happen.

There has been other Alphasim products removed from late previews, the one strongest in my mind was the WWII Pacific carrier package, but hey things ebb and flow.

Either way, I've yet to see any product that far advanced not reach the shop shelf somehwere, so fear not it'll be available in the near future of that I'm pretty confident.

Best

Michael

Now if only Flight1 would actually get products on the shelves in the UK, I could see it selling well.

The downside to this is that there are no Flight1 products on the shelves in Game - the UK's largest high street retailer. I saw one Aerosoft and a bunch of FCS titles on the ever-shrinking PC section last Friday. PC World had a few more than that on Saturday, but again zero from Flight1.

They might want to investigate why that is.

Hummm, can´t understand your worry, if at all....you can download Flight1 planes from everywhere, no need for stores.....they are obsolete!!!!...what did you mean???....I have the jungle here only 20 minutes away and I download my stuff no matter where it is......hummm, hummmm:kilroy:

I fully agree. If I recall correctly, the last addon I purchased from the stores was a Frankfurt scenery for FS98.

Hi chaps,

Yes it's a Flight1/ Alpha product.

The idea is that I am to finish it as per the good faith agreement, but we'll see how far that goes. If I don't, someone else will.

It's just in line with everything else now. Things at AS have certainly slowed but the reasons for that are pretty obvious, and do not need explaining. :monkies:

I was referring to Prowler and Michael's comments about it being a box-release venture with F1. Obviously if it's a wrapper product, that's not an issue, but F1 are next to non-existent on the shelves here.

Regarding box sets, I think you'd be surprised how many people prefer to have a box in their hands - not for the shiny manual, but because it removes the majority of the restrictions regarding re-installing. These days that means very little (e.g. things like Empire: Total War, Mass Effect, Spore and many more that have required online activation to play anyway, from CD) but there is still quite a strong feeling among some simmers and gamers that they want to be in control and not the developer/vendor.

All I'll say is that I want this little crate, whether it comes boxed, wrappered or zipped. Funds permitting, it's high on my list.
