The good news is that i've just ordered phase 3 happy days are on there way.
The bad news is that out of the 3 pc's we have in the house the kids have made them as fast as a be2c in a head wind!.
So what i need is a pc thats like a DV11 in a nose dive.Any idea's what i should go for.

How much do you know about the inner workings of a computer? The reason I ask is that the cheapest and best way by far is to build your own. There are many on this forum who will help. The next best thing is go to your local computer shop (if there is one) and have a talk with them and tell them what you want. The last resort IMO is to buy a "pre-packaged" computer.

PS: I learned how to build a computer from doing a lot of research and with the help from many folks on this forum. I built my tower for around $800 US and even if I do say so myself it has pretty hefty specs.:d

Cheers mate. I don't know if i'am up to it ,but i will do some digging and see what it takes.

Yep, Parky and the crew are the masters of NewEgg piece-parts building. They usually are more than happy to make recommendations.

Personally, I just go to my local geek store (not one of the big, nationwide chains) and talk to the guys and see what they can put together. The one near me has built me a great system for much less than I would have paid for a less capable Dell, HP, or even IBuyPower machine.

The Intel Q6600 G0 (SLACR) is the best bang-for-buck chip right now, as you can OC it on a good air-cooler to 3.2ghz real easy on a decent mobo (from 2.4ghz, that's a DEAL! :icon_lol: ).

Then you have to choose, DDR2 or DDR3 RAM (and choose your mobo accordingly. Go for one that supports at least 1066mhz or higher RAM). If you're going to OC your CPU to 3.2ghz you want at least 800mhz RAM. Personally I'd spend a bit more and go for 1066mhz, for future-proofing.

Then your graphics...a single card or two for SLi. One ultra-powerful card or two slightly cheaper ones...or two ultra-power if the money's there.

Then at least a 650w PSU.

A case with a good air-flow design and plenty of fans.

A SATA hard-drive.

CD/DVD drive/burner.

A top-end fan & heatsink for the CPU.

Some Arctic Silver CPU thermal paste.

A screwdriver.

Did I forget anything?

Step1.
First what do you want to play? ok your an WW1 flysim fan, then it is OFF3 or RoF, go for there site and check for the system you need for maximum performance.

:wiggle:

Step2.
Search the web for tests or go to a site like Tomhardware, Tweakers, get your info at computer forums, they have the knowledge. Go to your wife for futher info about the budget:argue:

Step3.
Go to your local shop or search the internet, pricewatch/Ciao/kelko compare prices, for online shops my recomedation go for the shops in your own country in case of a failure.:argue:

Step4.
Go fore it! :karate:

Step5.
Your next plan, Pedals, headttracking device, butknocker etc:engel016:

Hammer, you forgot the hammer.

You'll need a very big hammer :woot: The bigger the hammer the better. One sets next to my computer at all times and I never have any trouble with it.

Where as, if you don't O.C. ( Like Me) the Q6600 is a terrible choice at 2.4Ghtz & you have no intention of a rocket to the moon, or building a medium sized bridge :ernae:

Ops I think you mean, it is full of spam or not used programs??? You want the PC faster.
In case off the last sense, why not optimize your MS XP or Vista system. Go for Google en search the web for speeding up and get rid off all the performance eating "things" and old non excisting software. I went back to XP because of the performance issue and tweaked the XP to make it lean and clean. Use freesofware like Bootvis, CCleaner, lavasoft adaware, spybot etc to clean your system. Search the computer forums.
In case of playing OFF3 not online: Close all the running programs at your PC, Virusscan can be a hudge performance eater. Enditall is a smal program to illiminate all the no necesery programs on your PC, can help here, it even closes your virus/adware programs, [Warning when your online, scans must be on these days and restart your JoyStick program thats also closed].
These are small things which will cost no euro's

But I must admit a new system will bring you more, but also more $$$$$ and spending more $$$$ is good for the economics, to releave the World Wide crisis issues. :amen:
