Who do ya think makes the best security progam for 2011

Mine is coming up for renewal. I have ZoneAlarm with no problems so far. It does have problems on laptops but I have enjoyed it.To renew it for two years is only about a hundred bucks.
 
Freeware...Windows Essentials has always worked for me no problems...
Payware...not sure,never used one?
 
Moe, I used payware ZA fpr 3 years when I had XP, worked like a charm. Built my new computer last year with Vista-64 bit and ZA snagged every dang thing I tried to do on the web, I uninstalled it. I now used Advanced System Care Pro for maintenance, Crap Clean, Malware Bytes, Windows Essentials, and AVG 9.0.

Of course, the best thing one can do for Internet Security is "stay" away from porn sites, period! And that's the truth, as Lily Tomlin's Edith Ann would say.

I use Snuffy Security. ;)

When I don't need to be on the web when the computer is running, I disconnect it from the router. I do a system scan once a week after all my programs are updated. I use Essentials, Registry Mechanic, Spyhunter, Trojanhunter, and Crap Cleaner.

I've been using it for a few years now on all of my systems. I also have Malwarebytes and spybot search and destroy installed and the router's built in firewall is active. :)
 
I don't know who I wanna go with next. I guess I gotta do some surfing to figure out who offers the best protection for my needs.Has anyone brought any of the 2011 products yet...Mike
 
zone alarm security suite ere with no problems, allthough its always best to wait about a week before updateing to any new version so they can iron out the few bugs which crop up :)
 
Just stay away from Norton - it's GOT to be the biggest resource hog I've ever seen. I had their 2003 suite that I kept updated with definition subscriptions, but last year they up and said I could no longer get a definition subscription. So I paid for a download version of their 2010 product. BIG mistake! My system suddenly took twice as long to boot up or shut down, and everything else ran slower than frozen molasses! I'm using Avast now and I'm happy with it so far.

Best security? Get a program that will let you burn a backup image of your entire OS drive onto another drive, along with a bootable disk to use for restoration in case something gets corrupted badly enough that you can't boot. That way, you boot from that disk and restore from your backup image. You'll loose all changes past your last backup, but that's a small price to pay to get back up. My Norton 2003 included such a program, and the bootable disk still works independently after otherwise ditching the brand.

Odd, that. I've used Norton since 2004 and yes, it got slower and greedier every year. Until 2008, when it suddenly went on a SlimFast diet and shed a couple of hundred pounds. Result, system perked up and boot times plummeted on an old P4 1.7GHz with 768MB memory.

Nowadays I run a Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz with 4GB on the mobo and Norton 2010 is one of these things that take only a moment out of its busy schedule...
 
Have to say MS own Security Essentials seems pretty good. Haven't had a single virus since I installed it not long after the release. Small footprint too.
