Who made this?

SOH-CM-2023
Rene and I want to know who made the P47C cockpit ca/ 10 or so years ago so it can be used with the 3us_p_47c_5. Anyone know?

The ten years is a very rough estimate, I'd say it's at least that much, probably even more. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has it and it very likely originates from SOH somehow but I've long since lost any info about it.

Having said that, something in it (at least to my eye) has a resemblance to what Ed Wilson did for his P-40s.

I looked through all my CFS3 P-47 downloads and I couldn't find a C-model (I like the bubbletops better) but there was an early D-model with a VC credited to Ed Wilson... So Rene could be right.

Do you know what the name was? Any relationship to the 3us_p_47c_5? In any case do you still have it?

not 100% sure but its probably the same aircraft. I remember giving the vc to avhistory to release. I think the external model is just the stock razorback p47-D.

Not clear to me if you are asking for the released cfs3 game model or the source files???

Steve's cockpit is in ETO's early P-47D's Tuskeegee Red Tails
and a few others. Also used in PTO Rising Sun's 41st and 258 sqdn.

Thanks again. I'll check out if I have that. Do you know the Library zip name if it was moved from aussie, org in case I can't find it.

Well I don't seem to have those but I have the ETO_P_47d which says
"
ETO P-47d This P47d textured by Jaycee as the P-47d flown by Lt. Col. Francis Gabreski, Co.of the 61St. FS/56Th.FG

The skin is by Jaycee, the main model Stock CFS3, the VC model is by Steve Sebolt which has an elevated eye point and new gunsight arrangement.
the plane has new weapons, and effects.

All used with permission.

regards The ETO team. June 2009"

Does this also includes Steve's 'pit and is it an updated model?

Thanks for that. I will have to look into how different this early 'D' was compared with the 'C' WRT the CFS3 modelling, as I believe the 'C' was still the main version on Aug 17th 1943.

According to the Joe Baugher blog site,:

"In its initial form, the P-47D differed very little from the P-47C-5-RE which preceded it on the Farmingdale production lines. The P-47D had some changes in the turbosupercharger exhaust system which incorporated an adjustable duct and redesigned vents for the engine accessory section. Additional cowl flaps were fitted to prove engine cooling airflow. More extensive armor protection was provided for the pilot. Generally, however, early P-47Ds can be distinguished from Cs only by their serial numbers."

D models started coming off the line in February 43

Also:

"Demand for the Thunderbolt was so great that Republic built a new factory at Evansville, Indiana to augment production of the P-47D. 1050 P-47Ds were ordered from Evansville on January 31, 1942, and the first Evansville-built P-47D (serial number 42-22250) rolled off the assembly line in September of 1942. Evansville-built P-47Ds were distinguished from Farmingdale-built P-47Ds by the use of the RA manufacturer letter code rather than RE. They could be distinguished from Farmingdale-built P-47Ds only by their serial numbers."

Guess there is the possibility of mixed models on the late 1943 raids

Thanks for that info. I'll try and see if there are any combat reports mentioning specific models, but, as you said the early 'D's were more or less the same externally as the 'C's.
