Why are the maps so crappy?

When I press the "M" key for a map the maps are really pixilated. They didn't look like this in CFS2. The rest of the game looks great. I don't think it has anything to do with my computer. I have P4 3.0 Gb, 2 Gb ram, BFG 6800 GT OC graphics, Corsair 450 watt power. Is it me or does anyone else have this problem?
