Or, depending on your point of view, closed because the fortunate few disregard - and disrespect - the opinions of others. Just as you do here, seemingly without hesitation or rebuke. "Individuals who don't know what they're talking about`. Really? Supply evidence to support the theory or else it is of course just another incorrect perception. Not to mention hypocritical. Many of those critical evaluations show perspicacity, intuitiveness and informed observation, which others have missed, or which add to the informed debate leading to better-informed decisions and general edification.
The expression of dissent is no more than another opinion. Discussion and debate is founded upon DISagreement: Agreement only arises out of consensus. If you don't debate, you don't achieve consensus, and what you get is a mandate imposed on the many by the few, most of whom don't have the merest clue what they're talking about...
The best way to discount or repudiate an opinion you don't agree with is show how and why it is wrong. Doing so is a welcome contribution to the light, not slinking around in darkness. Those who do so are not wolves, they are Llamas - beasts of burden who might spit or kick occasionally, but can usually be relied upon to get you to the top of the mountain.
