"Individuals who don't know what they're talking about`. Really? Supply evidence to support the theory or else it is of course just another incorrect perception. Not to mention hypocritical. Many of those critical evaluations show perspicacity, intuitiveness and informed observation, which others have missed, or which add to the informed debate leading to better-informed decisions and general edification.

The expression of dissent is no more than another opinion. Discussion and debate is founded upon DISagreement: Agreement only arises out of consensus. If you don't debate, you don't achieve consensus, and what you get is a mandate imposed on the many by the few, most of whom don't have the merest clue what they're talking about...

The best way to discount or repudiate an opinion you don't agree with is show how and why it is wrong. Doing so is a welcome contribution to the light, not slinking around in darkness. Those who do so are not wolves, they are Llamas - beasts of burden who might spit or kick occasionally, but can usually be relied upon to get you to the top of the mountain.

I'm not a lawyer, but I do have years of experience running fora; as a journalist; author, as well as in-depth knowledge of the sim - and a healthy regard for the rules of commercialisation and the legal and contractual obligations charging for a product places on the vendor.

This forum offers a fine mix of intelligent discussion, often highlighting products not mentioned anywhere else, and having a depth and level of discussion that is consistently above most. But it does err toward obsequiousness. Occasionally.

Denigrate those who sell us product that is inferior, sub-standard or just not as good as it should be?

It is pleasing we agree. And even if we don't, agreeing to disagree is a consensus, too.

Critique = first meaning: to separate, put asunder, distinguish, this all in order to be able (second or third meaning) to judge something fairly

The problem isn't people posting negative views, it's the arguments between those who's views differ.

I want to read negative opinions just as much as I want to read positive opinions, as long as they are well founded views.

It all gets sticky when someone posts a critical opinion, then they get jumped on by a certain crowd insisting that they must have an agenda. That person then retorts etc etc.

This is a neutral discussion board and as long as the opinions are posted respectfully it shouldn't matter what that opinion is.

Falcon you proclaim that if someone has a problem with a product they should take it up with the developer privately (to an extent I agree, as I will explain). Now I don't give two hoots about whether there's one too few rivets on a door etc, but if someone posts telling me there's serious faults with the flight dynamics then that's something I want to know. If they take it up completely privately with the developer how would I ever know about it? The exception of course is when there's a private matter, in which case solving the problem privately is best.

Falcon you yourself have readily posted extremely negative comments about some Abacus software recently. I don't accuse you of having an agenda etc, you're merely stating your opinion. You can't complain about complaining when you complain yourself! You might say that 'but I complain about major matters (i.e. not about wrong rivets) but to some the rivets are major matters.

To summarize, every opinion should be welcomed as long as it is well founded, it's the bickering OVER the opinion which causes all of the problems around here.

Edit: I'm a little surprised the admin are advocating not posting any negative opinions. This is supposedly an impartial site. Censoring negative opinons or disallowing their posting simply because they are negative isn't right. Once again this only applies if the opinions are valid.

Edit 2: Snave you're going to get yourself banned if you're not careful. I think you're right, but wrong in the way you're saying it.

Frankly consumers are clever and can make there own mind up about whether a product is worth spending their money on.

For that reason your comments on this forum are pretty pointless and would be better off written out constructively in an email to the developers.

If you can't post without bitchin, gripin and arguin about everything, then bygod don't post at all.

the outhouse is not here for to come bitchin an gripe about a developer. If you want to do that, then go to thier site.

Next time it happens, someone goin to be showed the door, and I'm to the point that I don't really give a damn who it is.
