Wierd Terrain

I think I messed things up pretty good this time. No doubt some of you can help me.

Today I decided it was a good idea to update my vid card driver.......probably a no no, because "if it aint broke dont fix it" right? Well I started up OFF and Quick Combat to see how it works and I got yellow and purple lines all throughout the terrain. I changed the Antisotropic Filtering from "Application Control" to "On" and the purple and yellow lines went away, however the terrain is now all "square" looking, like the patches of scenery dont mesh together with one another at all. Im not much for PC tech and Im having a hard time figuring this one out.

Is there anyway to fix this while keeping my updates installed? Or should I just restore my computer to its last checkpoint before I installed the updates?

hey rooster u ever played call of duty b4? why dont u go go over there ill show u how 2 fix it

Would try restore first,?

If you mean System Restore, yes it'll do it hopefully, but before trying that drastic a step (relatively speaking), go into Device Manager and try to roll just the video card driver back (I know, not very detailed instructs, but search for Device Manager in Help).

It may just work and you won't loose any other config changes you made since last Restore Point. You do set Restore Points before updates, right? :faint:
EDIT: Funny, I just spent a good chunk of this weekend doing a clean XP install b/c I pooched my bootcamp partition, and my Restore Points were lost for some reason (even though I HAD JUST MADE ONE!). All to run OFF2...

To roll back the driver just click Start, control panel, performance and maintenance, system, hardware, device manager, display adapters, right click you display adapter, properties, driver, and click "roll back driver". That should do it!

Hello,
i had those rectangle issues myself at first, and it was a new graphic card driver along with adjusting the CFS3 config in the OFF folder that solved the problem. I do not exactly remember what i did though, perhaps one from the OFF team might help?
Greetings and good luck,
Catfish

Thanks for the help guys.
arjdsm, Ive only played Call of Duty on PS2, and Im not quite sure what you mean by "over there", lol.
Catfish, if you can jog your memory as to what you did I'd appreciate it, I'd like to keep the updates installed because I just downloaded the Demo version of FSX from thier website and can only run it with the update. (Its not pretty on my rig, Im just playing around and getting the feel for it to see if I want to buy it when I get my new PC and pretending my scenery looks like the screenshots.)
Thanks CJ. I'll do that, but im guessing that it takes it back to the way the driver used to be. And if all else fails I'll do a system restore.

I'll get it fixed one way or another.

If memory serves, when you change a video driver, all the CFS3/OFF config settings default back to original settings. I've seen this myself, if I recall. Particularly, something to do with the 'overrides' settings.

If you don't know how to set these, check around or reply here, I'm sure someone will be kind enough to tell you...it's also on Pol's OFF FAQ website, I think.

You didn't mention specifically that you did go back in and reset the config, and I do believe it resets when you change drivers. So, hopefully that'll help.

In any case, I'm sure it's configuration somewhere, and therefore shouldn't be necesary to roll back drivers, etc. I can also say I'm using a pretty recent Nvidia driver - 180.48 - and it works (although you don't say what video setup you use; ATI might be different).

Good luck.
