a 340 acre wildfire roared through the northern part of Auburn ca,sunday afternoon.it was devistating to our community.lost 60 or so homes and businesses..as far as anyone knows..no one was hurt..but there were several very close calls..a sheriffs deputy broke down the door of a 93 yo woman whos mobile home was already on fire and litterally drug her out as she was to scared to move..one woman was in the shower..saw the fire come over the ridgetop from the bathroom window..left the water running in the shower and threw on a robe, grabbed her babies and ran to her car..before she got out of the driveway the house was on fire..( i know that sounds outragous,,but its true)....was very fast and very hot..the temp was 99F and winds were 25+ AWAY from the fire...god knows what the winds were IN the fire.BTW the humidity here was 12% when i got home at 6....i was in a town called paradise visiting my 92 yo uncle..my sister looked out his livingroom window and said..whoa..look..we could see the thick black smoke 115 miles away...we called our nieghbor and she told us where the fire was and we made it home in record time...lol...

im listening to my scanner now and they just had a small celibration...a cat was found....someone placed a boowl of food out and the cat came..so the batalion chief got on the radio and announced the fact for everyone to hear...cheer folks up some...

....i was in a town called paradise visiting my 92 yo uncle..

I spent some time growing up in Paradise, before it became a town. Relatives buried up there in the cemetary. Last year, 2 years ago (??) all I could do is hit the Paradise Post (local newspaper) web site to keep track of the big blaze that they had.

Still early in the fire season for Kalifornia. I fear the worst is yet to come.
