Will this system run P3?

OK, gang, like many others I'm gearing up for P3. Part of that gearing up means shopping for a new PC. Will the system below run P3 with all the high settings, TrackIR Pro, and my MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 stick? (Seems like I read that TrackIR will now run on Vista.) I want my sim to look like Pol's videos. :jump: All knowledgeable opinions welcome. Thanks.

Question: Is see the newer factory Hot Rods Listed as (12MB, 2.83 gigs, 1333 FSB) is that 12MB the cache. Or just some computer mumbo-jumbo like, hyper threading technology, another DELL special

My only reason for not jumping for one, is it's built on a full tower, and as such it won't fit in my desk :kilroy:

Yes I'm very familiar with this problem. As a respected lengthy member I have to say I've got a big one too. Still no point complaining about it eh chaps ;)

Oh boy... a "mine's bigger" thread! :jump:

Oh wait... that leaves me out. :costumes:

Hello BaronMyBuns (whatever THAT means),
i see some serious problems:

System Color Red Bezel Chassis
This does not match the spirit of OFF, try to get an olive drab one.

Monitors No Monitor
I somehow think you would need one, but then you can fly by acoustics (?)

Speakers No speakers (Speakers are required to hear audio from your system)
Really. Well then it will be almost impossible to hear any sounds from OFF

Security Software No Security
(No security, hmm)

Datasafe No DataSafe
(Datasafe does not work anyway, so this isn't that bad)

(Ducks and runs away)
greetings,
Catfish

Hello Baron
I am using an XPS 630 as well, very nice chassis. Very open with great ventilation and very quiet.
I am running with Win XP Pro and dual 512MB nVidia 8800 GT's and you can see from my screen shots how the game looks. It will look and play great on your rig.

Gotta' love Dell. You'll pay to do it though. Roughly $2700 bucks without a display? Ouch.

Hey Frank,

While we're flexing here, I almost forgot to show you my new case fan....

Good grief ! - flexing and commenting the muscle - feels like when I'm in my fitness studio, watching the bodybuilders in front of the biggest mirror... You see, Pol, what happens, when people wait for a game so long :)costumes:).

MyBuns; didn't you know, that, the better your system, the better the enemy at your tail? They didn't have a system like that, when they went to the moon, back in '69; and that was the NASA !
And for the chasis: "System Color Red Bezel Chassis" - perhaps you try Lozenge 5-colour-pattern; more like.

Well, after some sorties, you may cool down a bit and have a drink with your wingies. (Hope, you don't mind - I'm also waiting for P3). Cheers, Olham

Thanks for the feedback. To answer...

"No monitor" - Yeah, that's cause my current Samsung 24" widescreen will be just fine, thank you. (Wait, that may be construed as more flexing. OK, go ahead.) :jump:

"No speakers" - Yeah, I'll use the ones I've got now.

"12M" - Yes, it's cache.

"Having one that's too big" - Sadly, I do not share this problem. But that doesn't prevent me from compensating by getting a HUGE COMPUTER.

"Meaning of BaronMybuns" - My thought was to laugh in the face of death by mooning ("baring my buns") an enemy who was on my tail. Get it? OK, it's lame, I know, but my only choice now is to start over with a new user name.

"No security" - The software that comes bundled with these machines tends to be cumbersome so I'll just continue to use my Avira Antivirus and ZoneAlarm firewall.

Makai, thanks for the personal take on the 630. Cool. :applause:

"Price" - Yeah, it's $2500 but Dell has it on sale for $2,085. I'm probably going to stop short of clicking "SUBMIT" as I really can't afford it right now. Ah, to dream though.

Lol unfortunately the 2 cats and a dog Parky had that used to play happily around the PC haven't been seen for some time.

Basically the same rig I have, although I built this one. It runs OFF just fine. Still can't completely max out the eye candy. But with all the detail the game has, it will probably be 5 years before the tech is capable of handling it well enough.

Gosh ! These Canadian lads eh what ! Must be something in the water. Parky wins hands down ! I just can't compete against that :redf:

Well done old boy :ernae:

The last one.....just before he mysteriously vanished off the face of the earth
